Backup my iPhone contact to Mac
I've got a problem. I'm really sorry if someone have already discussed that problem before.
I upgraded to leopard last night and had to format my hard drive. I lost all my contacts on my mac, but have them on the iPhone. How can I get the iPhone to transfer them to my Mac?
Hope to get answers as soon as possible.

Go to Settings, Mail, and then scan through all your accounts and make sure that the contacts switch is turned OFF for each mail account.
I believe this setting overrides the address book sync with instructions to sync with mail. So once you switch it off, the address book on your mac should automatically start syncing with your iphone.
Besides what said above, a same article about how to transfer or copy contacts from iPhone to Mac, which can help you transfer contacts from iPhone to Mac for backup.
hopefully this works for all of you like it just worked for me!

I strongly recommend you make a physical backup of your contacts database from the phone before attempting this -- if you do this wrong, you'll wipe the phone of all of its contacts with little to no way of fixing it. Also, I recommend you tell iTunes to back the phone up before you synchronize, this should ensure you have a safe backup of your device and all of its contents (save data, high scores, contacts, SMS log, call history, etc.) in case something terrible happens.
You should be able to tell iTunes to synchronize with Apple Address Book and upon the first sync, it should bring up a prompt that informs you that synchronizing the device will change more than 10% of the contacts on your PC. Read this dialog VERY CAREFULLY. It could either be telling you that it's going to replace the contacts on the Mac with the contacts from your phone, or vice versa -- you don't want to click OK unless you're 100% certain it's doing what you want it to do.

Another good practice come handy is connect your Iphone to Itunes and open Info tab, then check Sync Address Book Contacts. Select Google or Yahoo at your source. After you hit sync, All contacts from iphone will backup to google or yahoo. After that you can do whatever, without fear because your contact is physically backup in google. Btw, check your address book after you sync your phone because all your phone contact gonna appear in the address book (that what happened in my Mac pro after i sync with my iphone). GL

Hi I found this while looking for a way to backup my iPhone contacts to my computer. I would like to transfer only some of my iPhone contacts (not the whole list) as my computer already has most of my contacts saved correctly? I would be glad if someone could help. thanks.

There is a number of apps you can use in order to back up your iphone contacts to your computer. try CopyTrans Contacts. It is not a free tool, however, you can go around the limitations imposed in the trial version.

You could use iCloud, if you don't have iCloud, you can plug your iPhone into your mac and click backup in iTunes by right-clicking on your device name and selecting it.
