    Default 4.1 wifi always on

    Hi,
Hi I've noticed that my wifi is always on, even when the phone goes to standby/autolock.
Is this a bug or normal for iOS 4.1. I believe my iPhone 4 didn't do that on 4.0.2.
I recently JB with limera1n and unlocked with ultrasnow.
    iPhone 4, 4.1/1.59.00.
    Thanks.

i found this text on teh apple web page regarding the new ipod touch, not sure if it aplies to iphone as well:
iPod touch can now stay connected to Wi-Fi even when in sleep mode. This means background VoIP calls, push notifications, and other apps that require an active Wi-Fi connection can just keep working.

i think persistent wifi is a new feature only for iPods. That's why Im concerned my iPhone is acting like this.

not sure it's ipod only, apparently ipad is behaving the same way, could be something across all idevices or a bug on the iphone 4 FW.

    i think it's due to limera1n hacktivation.
try this (backup first) - Remove limera1n Hacktivation

No... greenpois0n uses the same type of auto detection for the need to hacktivate as redsnow does.

Simply, it detects based on the SIM inserted while greenpois0n is run whether or not it needs to apply hacktivation or not.

If you activated via iTunes with a valid carrier sim, then (generally) you don't need hacktivation.

limera1n uses the same hacktivation dylib as blackra1n RC3 used.

Limera1n installs hacktivation no matter what, that can interfere with later attempts to activate the phone legitimately via iTunes. This is one of the reasons I have avoided recommending blackra1n as your primary jailbreak. The same advice extends to limera1n.

Back to the topic of the thread. Wifi staying on is a feature of iOS 4.x and is not exclusive to the iPod touch. It should disconnect from wifi after 30 minutes of standby.

Hello, I registered just to share my experience with you guys who helped me a lot on this forum.
SO, totono8, I had your same problem: iPhone 3GS 4.1 clean, wifi goes off after ~30 seconds after locking it; jailbroke it with limera1n b4, everything went fine except the wifi issue, which was always on... i noticed that thanks to the battery draining.
After multiple plists editing and rebooting, my iPhone doesn't start, even in recovery mode, so i restored it, and this time I jailbroke it with greenpois0n rc3... and the wifi issue is solved. All the rest is smooth like limera1n. So maybe try restoring it and use greenpois0n. Wish you good luck

A quick update: the wifi issue was NOT solved with greenpois0n jailbreak.

Apparently something's wrong with Apple push notifications: they kept my wifi on even after locking the iPhone, even if I had them set on OFF.
I'm 100% sure that's the problem (at least for me) because i deleted the push notifications daemon (located at /System/Library/com.apple.apsd.plist), restarted and now the wifi goes off automatically when sleeping.
