    Default 3rd Party Unlocking offers

I've got an iPhone 4 (locked to Vodafone UK) waiting for an unlock so I can use it.

Has anyone been able to get an iPhone 4 unlocked though one of the services being offered online?

    eg: Factory-Unlock

This offer says 44 gets you a "factory unlock", but I don't see how they can be doing it? All of my experience tells me this cannot be true, but there's only one way to find out, and I don't want to part with *more* cash if it will be wasted. On the other hand, 44 for a proper factory unlock would be well worth it!

That actually does look legit what they are doing but I believe it is something you could do yourself. Those carriers probably already offer unlocking for a fee. One way to find out is to call Vodafone yourself and see if this service is available.

Unlikely that this is legitimate. You need to contact the carrier you are locked to. Any other company offering official unlock is operating in a grey/fraud if the unlock even worked (one time), it is possible that Apple could audit this and revoke your unlock.
