    Default Worth upgrading 3GS 04.26/3.0.1 to 3.1.3/3.1.2?

I've been happily using my unlocked/jailbroken 3gs on 3.0.1 with 04.26 and ultrasn0w. Its got tons of junk on it at this point, and I've got something that is eating battery power - and I dont know what it is. There are a couple of apps/mods (snappy) that I'd like to install that are NOT compatible with 3.01 and require a higher firmware, but I can live with out them honestly...

Cydia has my 3.1 and 3.1.2 shshs keys - but not my 3.0 or 3.0.1 keys (damn you apple) however I have my 3.0.1 ibss and ibec (?) keys, but from what I understand having them myself is pretty useless at this time. (I'm talking about the files generated by itunes when doing a dfu restore, I grabbed them when I first got the phone - as advised)

Now, a friend upgraded his 3.0.1 3gs and almost immediately started having serious battery problems, so much so - he had to exchange his 3gs with apple. He's on AT&T in the USA so it was no big deal for him. I'm NOT on an official carrier and I must remain unlocked (I'm using T-mobile USA)

I have mac and windows available to me, so I can make a custom 3.12 and 3.13 3gs firmware using pwnagetools, my understanding is ultrasn0w and 04.26 still work under 3.13, my real question here is, is it worth going thru the upgrade to 3.1.3? or try and resolve my battery drain on 3.0.1? I know there is NO GOING BACK.

My real fear is developing this mysterious 3gs battery issue my friend got, which was so bad, he had to exchange his phone. Swings from 20% to 60% to 30% etc.... he restored it countless times (to 3.1.2 at the time), apple restored it twice, and I restored it at least twice for him... so on at least 3 separate machines, ipsw's and itune's - same result every time....

SO: What's the opinion here? stay where I am, or make the plunge?

I am in a similar situation to you. No 3.0.x shsh

3.1.3 has much better battery reporting on 3GS. This does not mean it fixes all battery problems but it likely would have fixed your friend's battery swings.

3.1.2 is quite stable and I would generally recommend the 3.1.x series over 3.0.x

You should stay with ultrasn0w that means using pwnagetool/custom ipsw
