    Talking WORKING 3GS ON iOS 6.0 (10A403)

This may or may not work untethered, so far I have had luck with it UNTIL I TRY TO USE THE CAMERA. So, for best results, AVOID YOUR CAMERA AT ALL COSTS, THIS INCLUDES INSTAGRAM.

Things you need to be able to do before attempting this:

Identify your 3GS phone is of the OLD BOOTROM (Will not become bricked by ipad baseband)
Have a lot of time (this seems to take at least a good half hour)
Wifi and redsn0w competency (In windows run redsn0w as admin EVERY TIME YOU USE IT)

    Step 1

Swing by blog.iphone-dev.org/ and drop those guys a positive comment for their awesome work on these utilities

    Step 2

    utilities:
    redsn0w_win_0.9.15b2
    iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw

Boot the 3GS to a working state. If you need to, start with the reliable iPhone2,1_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw

    Power slide shutdown your iPhone

    Power phone into DFU mode

    Use redsn0w 0.9.15b2

    Extras

    More extras

    Restore

    Stock 6.00

    Do NOT preserve baseband

YES allow baseband to be updated

You will end up with baseband 05.16.07 (undesirable)

    Step 3

    utilities:
    redsn0w_win_0.9.15b2

Boot the 3GS into the initialization menu

Power slide phone shutdown from initialization menu

    Put back into DFU

    Use redsn0w 0.9.15b2

    Jailbreak

    At the jailbreak menu

Deselect "Install Cydia," we are not at that stage yet

Select "Install iPad baseband," this should be the only selected option.

BE PATIENT, this step likes to get stuck for awhile at about 60% during the running pineapple splash "Flashing Baseband (don't interrupt!)"

You will end up with baseband 6.15.00 (desirable for downgrade)

    Step 4

    utilities:
    redsn0w_win_0.9.15b2
    redsn0w_win_0.9.15b1

Boot the device into the initialization menu

    Use 15b2 >extras >even more >identify for the line
    BasebandVersion: 06.15.00
If you do not have this baseband version at this point, abort my procedure

    Exit 15b2

    Use redsn0w 0.9.15b1 (AS ADMIN)

    Jailbreak

Deselect "Install Cydia," we are not at that stage yet

Select "Downgrade from iPad baseband," this should be the only selected option

DFU mode and away it goes

BE PATIENT, this step likes to get stuck for awhile at about 60% during the running pineapple splash "Flashing Baseband (don't interrupt!)"

    Step 5

    utilities:
    redsn0w_win_0.9.15b2

Wait for the device to boot into the initialization menu

Use redsn0w 0.9.15b2 > extras > even more > identify for the line
    BasebandVersion: 05.13.04
If you do not have this baseband version at this point, abort my procedure

If you do have 05.13.04, return to the first screen of redsn0w

    Jailbreak

At the jailbreak menu run your desired jailbreak options

I run cydia, boot logo, and recovery logo, and use my special custom pngs. The only thing you really need is cydia

DFU mode and away it goes

    Step 6

    utilities:
    cydia
    ultrasn0w

Wait for the device to boot into the initialization menu

Navigate your way through the intialization menu.

    Connect to your wi-fi network.

Most other options at this point may be SKIPPED or left DISABLED (such as apple account and GPS) these can be enabled later via the settings menu.

Once you reach springboard. Run Cydia and wait for it to update its repository lists.

In Cydia, I like to locate ultrasn0w by going manage > sources > repo666.ultrasn0w.com

If ultrasn0w doesn't show up yet, wait for the syncing to finish.

    Install ultrasn0w 1.2.7

Restart springboard, let it fully load.

Slide shutdown your 3GS, give it plenty of off time, and boot it back up.

    Step 7

    utilities:
    cydia
    ultrasn0w fixer

Open Cydia again, go to manage > sources > edit > add and type in repo.iparelhos.com

Explore the iParelhos.com repository to install the ultrasn0w fixer

    Restart your 3GS

You are now an unlocked 3GS on iOS 6 with baseband 05.13.04

Run iTunes, setup as new phone.

Enjoy the iOS 6 platform and don't forget to thank the dev team for their great tools!

HOW LONG DOES YOUR IPHONE REMAIN FUNCTIONING LIKE THIS?

The reason I was having the disconnection may NOT have been related to the camera, but related to the following link

Support: T-Mobile Internet and picture messaging settings for AppleŽ iPhoneŽ

I have disabled 3g and am testing function without wi-fi now to see if crashing will stop.

disabling 3g did not stop the crashing, but it still works on wi-fi.

just guessing at this point but I think location settings being on causes crashing with wi-fi when untethered, and using t-mobile data service at all causes crashes.

    WOW OK guys,

my phone had been crashing because I had an EXPANDING BATTERY 3gs. This unlock still works and you have an unlocked and jailbroken 3gs. I bought another 2009 3gs that has a working battery and it works awesome. Untethered, unlocked, iOS 6.0.
