    Default Upgraded to 3GS, can I ask to have my 3G unlocked by att?

    Yesterday a friend of mine upgraded a 3G to 3GS under eligibility (no penalties) can he ask to have the previous 3G unlocked by apple/att?
    or they don't do this? telling them is for use overseas should help?

    If anybode went this route please tell you experience.

    Well, yeah, you are correct and Im aware of ultrasn0w, my question goes beyond that, would they unlock the phone after contract expired?
    I don't want to be worried anymore about basebands being unlockable or not.
    Different would be the situation if the 3G bootloader were compromised like the 3.9 and 4.6 from iphone 2G.
