Hi all, i have an iphone 3gs 16gb and very happy with it apart from one problem , which is when i send a text message sometimes it is only readable by going on the internet and downloading . I am sending messages to various people on different networks and on different phones (iphone , blackberry , nokia, motorola etc ) and i am not sending any photo messages when this happens . I am on the o2 network and there technical support have been no use in solving the problem, so any answers will be greatly recieved.

This almost always depends on the recipient carrier -- it has little to do with your phone, but for thoroughness sake:

1) Are you using the phone on an official carrier? I know you're on O2, but does that mean you have a carrier locked O2 phone?
2) If not, how was the phone unlocked?
3) Did you add any .IPCC or mobileconfigs to get SMS/MMS working in the past?

Ultimately, I believe this has a lot to do with the recipient carrier, but there may be an ipcc or mobileconfig that is telling your phone to send everything as MMS. There was a bug in the 3.0 software that if you added multiple recipients to an SMS, it immediately became an MMS with no option to send as SMS. Since you didn't put in the firmware revision of your phone, I have no idea if this applies to you.

thanks for your reply and no the phone is not unlocked it is on the o2 network. I have only been sending single texts not multiples and the problem is intermittent and seems to be happening to other people that i send texts too that it did not happen to before.
