AT&T MMS Update (9/25/09)

Here is how it breaks down:



If you have 3.1:

- For jailbroken & Non-Jailbroken Phones:
- - Plug in your iPhone, if no prompt, click 'check for upgrade'
- - Let upgrade happen (it is very fast)
- - Restart your iPhone [DONE!]
OR
- [Apple's Instructions]

If you have 3.0(.1)

- Close iTunes

- - Windows:
- - - Click Start > Run > Type: cmd (and hit enter)
- - - Run this command: “C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

- - OSX:
- - - Open the Terminal Application
- - - Run this command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE
- Download the newest AT&T Profile 5.5 (release 9.25.09) [Download Here / Mirror]*Updated
- - *Note* This will disable "cellular data network" to keep, see note at bottom (Advanced Only)
- - * This update will also disable tethering, follow note at bottom to keep.
- Open iTune
- - Windows - Hold the shift key while clicking update under your iPhone in iTunes.
- - OSX - Hold the alt key while clicking update under your iPhone in iTunes.
- Navigate to the IPCC file (Windows* might need to change file type to IPCC)
- Let upgrade happen (it is very fast)
- Restart your iPhone [DONE!]

Tested all 3 methods on 3GS (3.1/3.0 firmware - two different iphones)



**Note** (Advanced Only)
If you use the 5.0 carrier file you can KEEP your "cellular data network" & tethering
In other words-
dtube: Basically 5.5 will give you instant mms with setting configured but will disable cellular data network. With 5.0, you have to configure mms parameter manually, but cellular data network is there thus tethering is

Follow the same directions but instead use this file (5.0):
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
After updating to that file and restarting you must goto "cellular data network" (Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network)
And update some your configs
- Visual Voicemail change wap.cingular to acds.voicemail

- MMS settings (below the Visual Voicemail ) should match this (leave blank fields blank):

APN: wap.cingular
Username:
Password:
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 066.209.011.32
MMS Max Message Size: 614400
MMS UA Prof URL:

I have indows and this is not working for me. It will not let me change it to a IPCC file????? HELP.

I have done the update as instructed for 3.0.1 for iphone 3G. reboot iphone. i see the picture icon on sms and i can choose picture, but fail to send... i have not done the Advance part. not sure if that required or not...

i have the same problem, and checking the console log in xcode of my iphone it says that ANY ipcc file i try to install is invalid or unverifiable. im still running 3.0 on my 3G (i was directed to this post from a thread i started in 3g) It sucks that we have to be forced into crappy buggy tetherless 3.1 to get something we should have had on ALL iphones at launch. *edit*

so i think i figured it out, and man do i feel dumb. so i remember reading somewhere today the reason MMS won't work on the 2G is a limitation of the edge network, im not sure of the truth to that but it would make sense. 3G never works at this house so im constantly on Edge here, i guess ill give it a test when im out and about tomorrow on 3G, im so glad i didnt break down and upgrade to 3.1 only to find another bag of fail on the other side

i had to rename the ATT_US-5.5.ipcc to ATT_US.ipcc. then reboot 2 times after installation. worked ...

Will this method work on my 3.0 iPhone that is not jailbroken?

so i was wrong i got on 3g when i was out of the house and MMS STILL didnt work. i am beyond pissed at how bad at&t and apple have bungled this. absolutely unacceptable.

I have an ipcc file that you can try. It worked for me and tethering is enabled.

Edit: I was going to upload the file, but I do not know if that is allowed. I'll pm it to you.

thanks i appreciate it . unfortunately it STILL doesnt work . maybe AT&T thinks i still have a 2g or something, it shows 3g on the website but who knows im out of ideas and i refuse to update to 3.1 only to find it still not working possiby

Follow the instructions but you can use this file instead and MMS and Tethering will work. ATT_US_STEALTH.ipcc
I tried with the 5.5 version and it wouldn't send but after I installed this version it would send and receive and Tethering is enabled.
