Default Sending 3GS in for repair unlocked

    Hi All,

Can you advise on what will happen if I need to rend my iphone to apple for a repair? The touch screen is nt working properly. For some reason just on the bottom right hand side and normally only when its cold and then it will mess up for a few days and then be OK.

I have a 3GS unlocked and used on orange at the mo. Do I need to reset it or something before I send it or is a Apple repair not a option?

    Thank You.

    I'm running 3.0.1

I would suggest syncing it to itunes, Updating to 3.1.2 (therefore locking it back up) Therefore, they would never know that it was jailbroken...

I would not suggest updating an existing iPhone 3GS to OS 3.1.2 if you rely on software unlock.

Updating to 3.1.2 would not remove all traces of jailbreak. It will lock the phone again but to a careful eye traces of jailbreak will remain.

The only guaranteed way to remove jailbreak, pwn and any trace of jailbreak is to restore your iPhone in dfu mode with a stock apple ipsw then set it up as new when prompted in iTunes.

Saying this, I am not sure how carefully apple looks at iPhones to see if they can find traces of jailbreak.
