Discuss Saurik's on "Caching Apple's Signature Server" at the iPhone 3GS - Hackint0sh.org; Hi
I pressed the button on Cydia and it said that it had a file ...

saurik server said it had my file, but doesnt.
Hi
I pressed the button on Cydia and it said that it had a file saved for me. This was when it was first launched.
The phone has now crashed but cant restore the 3.0 firmware. (hosts set up correctly etc).
Umbrella can pull a version 3.1 but not 3.01 or 3.0 from saurik
So, Im back on my 2g and will leave my non booting 3gs (on v3.01 firmware) until dev team pwnage tool. I miss 3g and my navigon!

Yes it can, if your 3.0 ecid/shsh is on Saurik's server. I 've done it.

Yes it should do - I thought mine was on file but wasn't!.... Just a warning for people that might want to play with 3.1 - check your SHSH is actually 3.0 on the server!. (I didnt play - it crashed!)
-Update: the file WAS on there. Managed to do a pwnage for 3.1 and cydia said that 3.0shsh on file. Tested it and it now works..... However, decided to use the 3.1 JB now instead.

Hi
I've this iPhone:
Model: 3Gs - 16GB
Firmware: 3.1.2
Baseband: 05.11.07
Jailbraked with: blackra1n
A couple of months ago, I've stored my SHSH in Saurik server with Cydia's "Make my life easier" stuff, and a couple of weeks before I received the message that my SHSH was stored.
Now, after trying to fix some installations problems with aptitude, I crashed my iPhone. After booting with blackra1n, it loops forever trying to start Springboard. I have SSH on USB access for 10 minutes and after that, the iPhone turns off but I couldn't do anything to fix it.
So, I guess that my only solution is to restore it. (If someone know how to fix this problem, PLEASE! let me know)
In order to do that, I followed the tutorials on how to restore 3.1.2 with SHSH stored in Saurik's server, changing the .....\etc\hosts file with Saurik's server IP address. I tried to restore 3.1.2 but I couldn't. I get the "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" error, so I can't do the restoration.
I've been investigating at the Saurik's website. They recently changed the IP address from 74.208.105.171 to 74.208.10.249.
I explored both sites. 74.208.105.171 has an XML file (no SHSH files), and 74.208.10.249 root was yesterday:
../
TTS/
TTS_/
(both subdirectories empty)
but today it changed to:
../

does anybody know if the IP address of the SHSH caching server is still one of them? and besides that, how can I know if a particular SHSH (for example, mine...) is there?
thank you very much

Use Umbrella/TinyTSS - The Firmware Umbrella
Umbrella will allow you to query Saurik's server without doing the restore.
Tiny TSS will then allow you to restore with the SHSH you retrieved.
See - Hack that Phone - iPhone 3G S: Restoring "forbidden" firmware for details
This way you also have a copy of the SHSH locally as well as on Cydia.

Hi Olethros, thank you for your response.
I did that but umbrella didn't work. It said that he can't grab ECID/SHSH from my device. I use windows instead of MacOS.
Later I found AutoSHSH which extracts and saves SHSH locally, but it states it's for 3.1.3 (only?).
My firmware is 3.1.2 but I tried it anyway, and AutoSHSH created and saved a .shsh file.
I used that .shsh file loading it in TinyTSS but TinyTSS detects the .shsh file as 3.1.3.
Trying to restore 3.1.2 firmware, itunes seems to verify the signature (it passes some time in the verify window scrolling the progress bar 2 or 3 times) but immediately after that it gives me a "1600 unknown error".
any idea?

that means you don't have you 3.1.2 shsh on file with Saurik and you will no longer be able to get that since Apple stopped signing 3.1.2 a long time ago. You cannot restore to stock 3.1.2. Sorry ...
If your iphone has on old bootrom then you can restore with a custom 3.1.2 firmware created by pwnagetool
Lastly, your last ditch effort is to restore to 3.1.3 fw without updating baseband. The last ditch effort is discussed here: http://wikee.iphwn.org/howto:removellb

If you can get your ECID from DFU mode - see PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X then you can try again with umbrella - try both the latest beta and the stable version. You want to use the advanced mode and query Cydia - not Apple.
it is likely that what @dtube said is correct - you might never have had your 3.1.2 SHSH saved with Cydia. You require a separate SHSH for your device for each OS version.

I did exactly that and every combination (i.e.: every umbrella version, Cydia, Apple and localhost options in advanced mode...)
None of these worked...

Yes! I did! After 5 or 6 days of selecting "Make My Life Easier" I got the "This device has SHSHs file for iPhone OS: 3.1.2" in Cydia start screen...
What about AutoSHSH, does it work for 3.1.2?
I guess, I'll wait for 3.1.3 unlock exploit (did they say June 7th?) upgrading to 3.1.3. If exploit doesn't come, I'll try last-ditch effort.

Check your hosts file... If you have any weird entries there that can cause problems with umbrella, iTunes or AutoSHSH.
Localhost will not work unless you have TinyTSS running and already have a SHSH saved.
Also the ECID is written in decimal in the latest versions of Umbrella but listed in HEX if you view the USB device strings (or if you use an older version of Umbrella) The way it is represented should not matter. Just in case you are confused by that.

We don't recommend or support any software by ih8sn0w. He is not reliable. AutoSHSH uses an older version of umbrella internally.

Yes you can try last-ditch method if you can legit activate.
