Default Restore Iphone 3G[S] new bootrom with custom 3.1.3 fw (3.1.3 shsh file saved on Cydia

    Hello,
I own an iphone mentioned above and got stuck in the "infinite" boot loop while trying to restart it with blackra1n(RC3). Its current firmware is 3.1.2 and I saved my shsh file for fw3.1.3 on Cydia (lost the time window to save a 3.1.2shsh file because I bought it new on February 6th, just a few days after Apple stopped signing this firmware).
My question is if I can restore my iphone with a custom .ipsw 3.1.3 version using my saved shsh file and setting up a local "signing server" in order to keep my iphone jailbroken. I repeat that it is a new boot rom iphone and btw it is factory unlocked so I don't care about unlocking it.
Has anybody tried to do such a thing?
    Thank you

you cannot restore a custom ipsw to an iphone 3gs with new bootrom.
There isn't way to get you out of that boot loop.
However, what you can do is to connect your iphone to the computer, let blackra1n run (do not quit the program). Just let it run until the battery goes flat then may be the phone will boot.

Some people have succeeded doing it this way. BTW, do it on a computer running win XP.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
I fear I will have to restore it to a factory 3.1.3 firmware and kiss my jailbrake goodbye. Though I'll give it a try to let the battery dry out. Hopefully the next major firmware update is going to be released (&jailbroken) soon because I don't believe that anybody is going to release a jailbrake for 3.1.3 cause it would be "stupid" to reveal any exploits found on it and let Apple fix them...
    Thanks again.

yeah, try what i described above to see if the phone will boot up.
If it boot up, do not "reset network settings" or soft reboot the phone.
BTW, how did you phone get into that loop?.

The story begins with an app I installed which was multiapplication bundle like Appbox e.t.c. It is called "Appzilla". I tried to run all the utilities in it to see what they do and how they work. One of them crashed the whole application and returned me to the springboard. This is the first suspicious thing I noticed. I didn't restart the phone after that. Everything went alright since, but yesterday Safari suddenly hang. I don't know if there is any relation between the two incidents but NOTHING went ever wrong since I bought my phone in February. No crashes, no hangings, nothing. I closed it and decided that it was time to do a fresh restart of the device. As I was not at home I had to kick start it with blackra1n connecting it to another PC which was available at the moment since someone there has a jailbroken iphone. The op sys there was Windows 7. I have Windows XP pro SP3. The 1st attempt was successful and the phone restarted OK but the first time it always has the wifi connections problem and so I had to restore the wi-fi settings which led to the automatically restarting of the phone. Since then it never booted again. It stays significantly longer on the geohot's image (about 1,5-2 minutes) and then the image crashes and it gets to the apple image and after that to restore mode and round and round. Yesterday at late midnight the battery got flat but not while looping with blackra1n. I tried to put it in DFU mode (with success) several times, tried to restore with the method I primarily asked in this Forum (always got an an error #1601).
Hope to have given enough feedback so you may help other people to prevent such happening in the future....
    Thanks again for the interest.

No success, sorry. Its battery went flat more than 2 times while constantly rebooting connected to blackra1n. I am wondering if there is a way to SSH the phone via USB while in recovery or in DFU mode and try to fix something this way. I don't know what but there hopefully is away...
I tried to SSH with WinSCP but it wants me to type my phone's IP address. It seems that this is not possible right now because it doesn't have any IP address while in recovery mode or DFU mode.

There isn't anything you can do until the phone bootup normally.
BTW, putting in DFU mode won't help you unless you restore. But if you restore to 3.1.3 then you will not be able to jailbreak and unlock.
The 16XX error you got when you tried to restore to fw 3.1.2 is because you are not eligible to restore because Apple stopped signing that firmware. The only way you can restore to 3.1.2 is IF AND ONLY IF you have your 3.1.2 shsh (which I don't think you have).

Your only option is to try running blackra1n like i described and pray that it will boot up. A lot of people are facing this issue at the moment and I can never pin down what is causing it. Most of these phones have blacksn0w installed and the way blacksn0w initialize at boot may be causing the loop. That's only my guess.

Well, this is very interesting! Is there a windows version for this program (Xcode) or something similar?
I have in the meantime upgraded to version 3.1.3 and have to admit that I miss my jailbroken "status".
And most of all, this video shows an Ipod Touch. As I haven't followed the sceene till now, is this method going to work with an Iphone 3Gs new bootrom?
