Quick Question (PLEASE TAKE A LOOK!)
Okay i have an iphone 3gs that was running 3.1.2 unlocked earlier with tmobile. It was working fine. today i A.) reset network settings to get wifi back working and it was fine (didnt reboot though) and B.) installed winterboard. Then i pushed reboot and it hasnt booted back up since. Its in a continuous apple loop.
HELP!!
P.S. i pushed the make my life easier button on cydia but it just said pending since i've had the phone (about two days)

Okay, well since you haven't made an upgrade (Good Job!) then go into iTunes, hold shift and click Restore, and select your custom .ipsw and after it restores, go from their. Hope that helped.
Much Luck,

This ONLY works if you have an old bootrom 3GS - @gharris11589 did you have to re-run blackra1n or redsn0w every time you restarted the phone?

This takes a while to process - but you will only get OS 3.1.3 SHSH - the door closed for OS 3.1.2 SHSH on 4th February.

Okay guys you'll have to bare with me i dont know how to reply back to each one of you individually (forum noob lol)
But @Captainnegatory when i tried to install using a custom firmware it said "The iphone firmware could not be installed because the firmware is corrupt" I'm using the custom 3.1.2 for 3gs that i found at Iphone heat (Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 Custom Firmware (IPSW Files) for iPhone 3GS, 3G, 2G | iPhoneHeat) Idk what to do
@Olethros - I did not have to re-run everytime i restarted my phone it just worked and from the research i've done on the topic i have the old bootrom (IBOOT-359.3) so i dont know what the problem is
PLEASE HELPP i hope im doing something wrong
Also my baseband is 5.11.7 if that helps

The new bootrom was released (week 41 - 5th october) around the same time as OS 3.1.2 (8th october) - so it is more likely that the phone has the new bootrom than old.
There is a grey period from week 41 to week 45 when a new phone could have old or new bootrom.
I don't entirely understand your second statement. If you have a SHSH for 3.1.2 you can downgrade to 3.1.2 from 3.1.3 (but not baseband) with both old or new bootrom.
However the original poster is not running 3.1.3, they are running jailbroken/unlocked 3.1.2

@captainNegatory - Apple isnt signing stock 3.1.2 so when i try to put it on there it says "this device isn't eligible for the requested build" because apple isn't signing 3.1.2 anymore only 3.1.3. My SHSH isnt on file in cydia either so idk what to do
is there a way to upgrade to 3.1.3 since its already jailbroken and unlocked shouldnt i be able to upgrade in a way where it will still be unlocked??!

I suggest he go into DFU mode and check the bootrom version. This takes a few seconds.
If old bootrom - exit DFU mode and restore custom IPSW
If new bootrom, a SHSH is required to restore original Apple IPSW, today you can only get a 3.1.3 IPSW so I would suggest they check if they have a 3.1.2 SHSH backed up with Cydia before trying to restore 3.1.2. See Hack that Phone - iPhone 3G S: Restoring "forbidden" firmware for more details.

Custom IPSW is the ONLY way. How did you check you had old bootrom?
