Default [Question] Which is better unlock....Dev Team style or Geohot?

The title says it all. Can someone please give me an educated view on which is better and stable.

    Thanks

The general consensus is that both unlocks work very well at this point. There were problems earlier on with geohot's RC1 of the unlock in relation to signal strength and random dropouts, but those have been fixed in RC2. Both Dev Team's and GeoHot's RC2 use very similar methods to unlock the device and at this point, neither require the use of on-device daemons, saving RAM as well as processing power.

They're both a cinch to install and frankly, at this point, they're very comparable. I think people who try and fuss about one specifically over the other at this point are just kind of kicking up dust... They both work, very well, in similar manners, and both have little to no overhead on the device....

That said, in my experience the Dev Team has always had slightly more polished interfaces for their GUI applications, and their jailbreaks have always seemed more reliable, so on a 'gut feel' (and only a gut feel), I'd stick with the Dev Team unlock on that reason alone -- but there are plenty of people on these forums who would disagree with me there because frankly there is just very little difference between the two unlocks at this point.

I agree with you n1ckn4m3 theirs not much to worry at this point in time using any one of the tools.

But from a personal point of view I'd also stick with the Dev Team mainly because they've always supported us with apps to jailbreak across every firmware version & iphone to date.

Though both seem reliable now, I'm sticking with the DevTeam. They are in it for the long run, providing JB/Unlock updates for all iPhone versions at each FW release.

George, on the other hand, has tweeted/blogged several times that he's in it for the fun of it now and is not interested in making his tools compatible with older iPhone versions, nor does he promise to continue his tools in the future. He's smart and quick (all props to him). But, I don't want to be stuck down the line if he suddenly decides he's bored and drops out of the tool-making end of it or drops his support of the 3GS when a new generation comes out.

Since their methods are somewhat similar, using one now will probably not preclude using the other later.

All that said, I hope George and the DevTeam continue cooperating and sharing with one another. It would be a shame if they let rivalry prevent progress.

    Hope this helps.

wasnt it a bit of rivaly that caused the release of the 3gs jailbreak a lil too early?
id stick to the devteam, cuz the hacking world just started to involve geohot again with the 3gs jailbreak, before that things were kinda quiet about him you know?

but all in all the question Dev Team style of Geohot? should be changed to Dev Team or Geohot in this case cuz its really about who you personally like better

Currently it should work on iOS 4.x - 6.x

Both our 3GS are Ultrasn0w'd....... No offense to GeoHot, but the Dev-Team stuff always seems to work and when there is a problem, they fix it pretty quick. No issues here, with the exception of PUSH not working
