[Problem] iphone 3.0.1 unknown status
hello all
I just received a iphone 3GS from a friend that has currently on it 3.0.1 firmware but I do not know what baseband version it has on it. I don't know if this 3GS was OTB 3.0.1 or if he updated it from the OTB 3.0 when he got it via itunes. The phone was never jailbroken or unlocked or tempered with in anyways.
I'm trying to jailbreak it and unlock it using the guide from iclarified but itunes just will not let me restore even to 3.0.1 EVEN in DFU mode! I even try saurik's method of adding the ip to my hosts file in windows but it won't generate a shsh file since this phone was never able to be jailbroken in the first place.
I have had many many success never a failure in jailbreaking iphones from 2g to 3g but this one really got me stumped!! I tried every way and every research possible that I can but no go to even try to use itunes to restore to version 3.0.1 or earlier
I even try with the newest itunes as well as the older version of itunes 8.2.1. Maybe something is corrupted with my itunes? When I added the host file in itunes gave me a code of 3002 something about iphone could not be restored, unknown error ....
please help me on how to jailbreak this cursed phone and unlock it as well.... Thank you guys!

well good news is that you can jailbreak and unlock with 3.0.1 since it has the same baseband as 3.0
but now its impossible to restore to 3.0 and 3.0.1 since apple isnt signing the firmwares anymore
