It does have a search engine in the top navigation bar "Search Forums"
If this is a 3GS, the first things you need to find out is if it has old or new bootrom and if you have a SHSH for any OS except 3.1.3
See http://www.hackint0sh.org/468379-post24.htm to get the bootrom version and ECID.
I already did the DFU restore.. doesn't work, still goes back to emergency
I did not say DFU restore - I said put it in DFU mode and then check some values. Read what I posted.
DFU restore to anything besides 3.1.3 will generally fail on a 3GS (see Caching Apple's Signature Server - Jay Freeman (saurik) for more information why). Restoring a 3GS to 3.1.3 destroys any chance of unlock OR jailbreak until maybe July.
You need to provide more info do you have old or new bootrom, do you have any SHSH cached on Saurik's server? Otherwise or we can't help you.
Okay, I checked the value it's [iBoot-359.3.2].. now what? U'r gonna have to tell me step by step.. this whole "old or new bootrom, do you have any SHSH cached on Saurik's server?" is greek 2 me.. sorry
n if u can't help then ok 2..
Cos for a split sec iTunes actually recognized the iphone and i got see that its version 3.1.3, but unfortunately i had not read ur last reply then and i'v already restored it to factory setting--!!!
so u see then according to u there's no fix fr it untill July.. so might c u l8r, but cos its not my fone, hopefully who it belongs to, will have gotten it fixed by then..
:D:D
iBoot-359.3.2 is new bootrom - this means at best only a tethered jailbreak is possible.
Now you have restored to 3.1.3 your friend has three options.
- Continue to use the 3GS with the original locked carrier/contract
- If it is not a USA/AT&T model, then apply to the original carrier for an official unlock. This might involve paying off the remainder of the contract
- Put the phone in a drawer as it is useless until June/July when a new unofficial will probably unlock come out.
Just asking, not even any of these softwares that are paid for to officially unlock will help this case--?
The software that is for sale on so many unlocking sites - is the same as the free ultrasn0w or blacksn0w. You should never pay for an unofficial unlock.
Only the carriers are able to officially register your iPhone with Apple to be unlocked. The official unlock request is actually registered with Apple and they issue the unlock to your iPhone via iTunes.
There is at least one german based company that claims to be able to register phones from any carrier for official unlock. They say that they can do this because they are a partner of t-mobile. I am sceptical that this is actually possible (especially for AT&T iPhones). It is very easy for Apple to detect and block this. One of the things that sounds dubious is that they say this can take up to 25 days to be processed after payment. In reality this generally takes less than 3 days to be processed if the unlock is performed via a legitimate carrier.
Hello--- Just one more question, could u please elaborate what a tethered jailbreak is and how it can be done?
Okay, I saw a video of how to do the tethered jailbreak - it talk's something about the phone should be an "MC model" [what's that?] and we'r supposed to check that - how?
Thanks---!!
Tethered-jailbreak means that you jailbreak the phone by running a jailbreaking software. Once done, the phone will reboot and at that time, you need to have the phone connected to a device (such as PC) to kick start the phone. Tethered means phone must be attached to external device to start.
MC model applies to iTouch 2G - it does not apply to iphone 3GS
