Please correct me if this is wrong

Hi all,

So, my 3GS is MC134ZA week 48 of production (Checked from my serial number) will not be jailbroken with current Blackra1n RC3 eventhough i try the custom firmware 3.1.2 because of the iBoot itself already made it unjailbreakable (Untethered jailbreak).

The only true way to check if your iPhone supports an untethered jailbreak (without actually jailbreaking) is to check the iBoot version as explained in this link http://www.hackint0sh.org/468379-post24.htm

My guess is based on the week number, you can tethered jailbreak this iPhone with Blackra1n RC3.

So, the Custom Firmware will not affect the iBoot yeah? Lets say im at 359.3.2.

Yes iBoot-359.3.2 is not supported by pwnagetool at the moment.

Thank you for the reply, i thought iBoot can be changed with custom firmware :(

I did jailbreak with Blackra1n in a PC btw, custom firmware was just another solution i'm trying to find out :D

The term iBoot is used in two places

1. The securerom / bootrom, this is hardware that can't be changed by a reflash. Occasionally apple will introduce a new bootrom in the manufacturing phase. This is what happened with iBoot-359.3.2

2. The recovery mode uses another iBoot (with a higher version number) this can be reflashed and is usually updated with each new iPhone OS

Current jailbreaks require exploits in both bootrom and recovery mode iboot for an untethered jailbreak.

So in this case, upgrading custom firmware won't be any help, because iBoot is not the only part of a firmware. I've checked mine, it's 359.3.2 T_T
