***UPDATE***: Finally .. I did it.. But I did it with Sn0wBreeze. I ditched RedSn0w and just did a straight forward jailbreak with Sn0wBreeze. Worked like a charm. But I do think that reflashing the baseband had something to do with it. It just activated the phone via iTunes - strange but am not complaining :).
One more thing before I get out of here - I have always had problems with push notifications, MMS and iMessage. Is there something I can do to fix these things? But again I can live without all these things if I have to really mess something up and go all over again.
I know I have to do somethings with SAM & SAMPrefs but I want to hear from the expert and not poke around. So please let me know if I can fix these things without having to go through the entire jailbreak/unlock thing again! Again, thanks for all your help.
Check Step 9 of one of my previous posts in this thread, it covers what you need to do in SAMPrefs to make it work. It's not that in-depth. Revert lockdownd to stock, deactivate the phone, pick the carrier, country, and a SIM prefix, reboot the phone, plug into iTunes.
I tried doing it but everytime I do this my phone goes into a recovery mode and is stuck at the Apple logo screen and I had to kick it out of the recovery mode. I am not sure what am missing here.
The following is what I do:
1. Get into SAMPrefs
2. Deactivate iPhone - I do not see REVERT lockdownd to stock until I do this
3. REVERT lockdownd to stock
4. Deactivate iPhone (clear PUSH)
5. Select country (US), carrier [AT&T (cingular)], SIM ID is automatically selected
6. Power the phone down
7. Connect to USB, power the phone back up
8. Stuck in recovery mode.
I kick it out of recovery mode and get into SAMPrefs again - the phone is in :WildCard Activated state, however when I get into Utilities its says ":Push Utils: Disabled" I also tried validating the push functionality using iPush and its not working.
Also I am still surprised how without installing UltraSn0w the phone detected my carrier. Before doing all this process the phone is in"WildCard Activated" state which I believe is the desired state and it represents that the phone was activated via iTunes, right?
I am probably giving lot of information that might not be required but I just wanted to understand what needs to be done and not missing anything in any of these steps.
Please let me know what needs to be done here. Thanks!
The phone *should* be in recovery mode after deactivation, it should be at the 'connect to iTunes' screen. When that happens, you should be able to connect to iTunes and have it activate legitimately through iTunes - that's what SAM does.
Is iTunes providing an activation error when you plug in after the phone has been deactivated and rebooted?
Hi, The phone is not showing the connect to iTunes screen but instead it hungs up in Apple logo screen. At this point my phone is already connected to iTunes and it doesn't really prompt to activate or gives me an error. Nothing happens its just stuck there and that's why i kick it out of recovery mode.
I am not sure if i am getting the sequence right. Can steps 1 thru 6 that i listed above be done with/without connecting to the USB? And as I stated above only in step 7 i connect my phone to my computer. Please let me know.
