yea how can you find out on the box by looking at the serial to see what week the 3gs has what firmware? I know from the old back in the days you look at the 5th and 6th digit in the serial number to find out the production week but ever since that they change everything so is there a way to find out if the iphone 3GS has firmware 3.0 or not? I want to take my 3.1 back to swap it for an unlock....
The iPhones with 3.1 started appearing somewhere in manufacturing week 37.
where do you look at though .... where in the serial number section since it all changes now? what place of digits?
Yes 3.1 started at week 37. But depending on model #, but most models are 3.1 acouple of models still 3.0.1 (there are more than 5 diff. models in the usa)
look at 3rd and 4th degit serial#
Strange got one more for my friend. It is 36 week. But with 3.1 .....
Digits 4 and 5, e.g. An iPhone with the serial number 89727X63NRX would have been produced week 27.
Oh yeah, my mistake. Should be 4th and 5th digit
Ugh, I have a sealed iPhone 3GS week 37, I don't know if I should open it or not. If its 3.1 then I would rather sell it sealed than opening it up. Does anybody have a week 37 with 3.01?
Thanks
