How to know Unactivated 3GS firmware & Baseband version

hi i have a problem with 3GS iPhone.....
i want to know firmware and baseband version to determine it's unlockable or not.
the problem is the phone is not activated and i tried *3001#12345#* trick from emergency call screen but it doesn't work.....

is there any way to know that?

You can't find baseband version without first activating / or jailbreaking.

If this is an out of the box - never used iPhone then it might be possible to get an idea about jailbreak/unlock based on the first 5 digits of serial number. If it has been already used/restored/updated, there is no real way to be sure.
