This is really confusing me and need to get this figured out.

I have an iPhone 3GS 3.0FW and jailbroken (Redsn0w, Windows)
I have my ECID (Got it manually) and I am now trying to run Umbrella and TinyTSS as explained on the first page in the blog.

I missed out on Cydia grab for 3.0 files and I noticed Cydia was grabbing 3.1 files, so being on 3.0 I still hit the grab button and now it says my device is 3.1 saved... I dunno if my current 3.0 and grabbing 3.1 on Cydia actually worked since there different version. (I read this earlier in the pages back but didn't really understand)

So what I am trying to figure out is... Can I still restore my iPhone 3GS 3.0FW back to a fresh 3.0FW with iTunes 9? I have my ECID and if I did the Unbrella and TinyTSS, will this help me restore or am I just SOL and would have to use a Custom FW 3.1 made from Pwnage tool 3.1.3??

Cydia can grab and store 3.1 SHSH files from a jailbroken 3.0 but it cannot grab 3.0 files anymore because Apple refuses to sign 3.0 now.

The 3.1 files that Cydia has captured for you are for when Apple releases 3.1.1 or 3.2 and blocks restoring to 3.1 like Apple has already done with 3.0

This will allow you to reload 3.1 whenever you want, even 1 year from now.

Only the lucky people who have 3.0 SHSH files saved in Cydia can restore to 3.0 now. You cannot restore back to a fresh or jailbroken 3.0FW now. Apple has closed that door.

Your only option is a restore using a Custom FW 3.1 made from Pwnage tool 3.1.3 right now. I did that last night and am pretty happy with the outcome.

is cydia still reporting that it has 3.0 shsh on file when it really doesnt or has that been fixed??

also since im jailbroken on 3.0 shouldnt i be able to restore to a custom 3.0 if i have to?

I think cydia is now reporting accurately about whether you have 3.0 or 3.1 on file.

Pwnagetool 3.1.3 does not have the option to make a custom 3.0 image only a custom 3.1 image. I don't think there is any technical barrier preventing this. However the dev team can't test and support every option and the big demand was to safely upgrade to 3.1 without upgrading baseband or losing jailbreak.

If people are still confused trying to obtain their ECID, and how to use the latest version of Umbrella (which Semaphore just made a gui for himself) and TSS, I have a Mac guide here:

This whole process is a lot easier now with the newer version of his program. What's great about it the ability to save your ECID SHSH on your own computer and restore whenever you want (in case Saurik's server should go down, etc).

First, thanks for helping out in the forum. I like your posts :).

Cydia reports 3.0 and 3.1 .
If you have both, it will show the lower version first. Saurik mentioned:

i'm trying to get my ecid file saved locally from saurik with umbrella.
yesterday i transfered my ecid to saurik (cydia says on file).

now i've added the extra host but umbrella says sorry!?

@n350z: the iclarrified guide with the link to purplera1n isn't working too (after pasting the ecid and hitting enter, nothing happens)

what's the last move in your youtube video in the terminal (where you put your ecid in), after cd'ing to the umbrella folder?

do i have the iphone connected to the mac when i run umbrella or what am i'm missing????

its official i cant restore to 3.0 using cydia, my blobs arent saved even tho cydia says they are :((
