The 1015 error is normal/OK it's because the iOS 5 beta loaded baseband 05.16.05 and the 4.3.5 IPSW is trying to downgrade to baseband 05.16.02 (which is impossible and throws an error)Quote:

at the end fix fix recovery shows "giving up" on the iPhone
I don't understand what you are trying to suggest here. It is IMPOSSIBLE to dowgrade the baseband on a 3GSQuote:

Yes you can restore back to iOS 5b5 - but I don't know how that will help you in your goal of downgrading to iOS 4.3.5
