Data Connection Unreliable after Jailbreak
Folks--
Don't know if this is specifically because of the jailbreak, but I didn't notice it beforehand... I've been noticing very specifically in the last week or so that randomly when I go to use 3G on the device (e.g., browse the web, etc.), it will just timeout. I have a valid data IP assigned, but Safari will just spin over and over and over again. If I toggle 3g using SBSettings, nothing happens. If I toggle 3g using Preferences.App, I regain my data connection.
I hadn't seen this issue prior to jailbreaking, but I also haven't seen any other people complaining of the same thing -- so it may be something specific to my device? I've checked to ensure I'm running the latest version of all packages I've installed but I just can't seem to figure it out -- it's very reminiscent of the error people would get when they downgraded from the 3.0 betas to 2.2.0/2.2.1 on their 3G phones -- the baseband would every so often just drop data connectivity. At least in that situation though, it showed on the phone that you were not connected to 3G -- in this case, my phone shows me full 3G coverage and provides the IP address....
Any thoughts? Troubleshooting recommended next time it occurs? I don't have any of the software installed to actually send the AT commands to the baseband so I don't think I'll be able to really nail down the specifics of what is going on, but if other people are having similar issues, perhaps we can see if we have similar packages installed?
Thanks as always
EDIT: As always, I left important information out of the initial post. Using a 32GB iPhone 3G S running 3.0 software legitimately activated as a paid customer of AT&T -- no hacktivation, yellowsn0w/purplesn0w NOT installed, nor ever installed on this device. Used purplera1n RC1 then purplera1n RC2 then redsn0w to jailbreak. After redsn0w jailbreak I needed to re-install all of my previous packages as redsn0w cleared the installed apt package list. This included SBSettings, among other things. I haven't seen any other negative repercussions if it is ultimately the jailbreaking path that caused this situation.
