Like the title said, I am on a OTB 3.1 3GS which is jailbroken recently by blackra1n... thanks to geohot! Will there be any benefits to me actually pwning the 3.1.2 firmware and update to it? I know I won't be able to unlock it anyway since there's no unlock out but the dev team is working hard at it!

nope everything works fine... been following up on twitter of chronicdev and all of those guy, it seems like an exploit for the unlock has been found for the 5.11.07 but they cant inject the code to the bootrom.....
and 3GS unit are being updated with new bootroom according to them too.. :woz:
actually you might want to upgrade to 3.1.2 and pwn with pwnagetool because some applications do not work on jailbroken iphone with blackra1n, such as winterboard etc.
I am on a blackra1ned iphone 3gs on 3.1.2 and my winterboard as well as everything else works just fine

Same here. I'm on 3.1.2, blackra1ned (with afc2add to fix the root filesystem issue), and I have no problems with Backgrounder, Mobile Substrate, or Winterboard.
I did not have problems with Mobile Substrate or Winterboard or Backgrounder prior to adding the afc2add package, but I still added it to get the afc2 service running again.
Also running 3.1.2 blackrained and have no issues at all with winterboard or anything for that matter, only thing I haven't tried is iPhonebrowser.
If you haven't either manually fixed the afc2 problem by modifying the .plist and rebooting OR you haven't installed afc2add AND you jailbroke using blackra1n, iPhoneBrowser/iFunBox will *NOT* work. It will tell you that your device is not jailbroken.
Quick fix is to install afc2add from Cydia.
damnit, had i known before i wouldnt upgrade to 3.1.2. Oh well, i am now on 3.1.2 through pwnagetool.
