3.0.1 3gs with ultrasnow, now getting 'sim card not supported' in itunes

I have a 3gs with 3.0.1 running ultrasn0w so I can use vodafone in the uk. All is working on the phone side, with no issues at all, however this weekend the phone has lost the ability to sync...

In itunes when I plug in the phone, it says a new firmware is available (3.1) so I click cancel to stop it downloading or installing, and instead of then showing the status page for the phone and syncing it shows 'the sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported'

The phone itself is still activated though and I can make calls etc.

Any idea what is going on here - have apple now put a stop to using a different carrier with itunes than the official, or has something just gone odd on my setup/phone?

Are you running iTunes 9.0 or iTunes 9.0.1?

9.0 mate... I actually got it to work by putting in the O2 sim, then removing it once the phone was able to sync and putting back the vodafone one... now it doesnt complain even with the vodafone sim in anymore.

Bizarre! Glad to hear you got it fixed -- I was checking to ensure that there wasn't something fun with the new 9.0.1 update they pushed recently.

Thanks for your posts! I had the exact same problem with the 3G and vesion 3.0.1, recently gone to aus from the uk so using a jailbroken phone with ultrasn0w so went from O2 to Vodafone AU which has been fine for the past 2 months untill this morning! don't want to upgrade to the new 3.1 or 3.1.2 as heard its not possible yet to keep your phone jailbroken. Its a bit confusing so thought i would leave it as was! Thanks tho i tried the changing sim thing and it let me sync with itunes again. And then changed it back to Vodafone AU and its working again! :)
