Hi guys,

Im new here and im stuck at the moment.

I jailbroke and unlocked an iphone 3gs which was on ios5 by downgrading to ios4.1 and baseband 06.15.00 and Everything worked fine.

I gave it to a friend of mine on loan for 2 weeks and when i got it back i did a wipe/reset.
My iphone got stuck on the apple logo and i cant get it sorted.

I understand i need to restore again but my PC & laptop wont recognize the iphone, neither will itunes.

Ive tried just about everything at this stage including holding down power and sleep combo to get dfu mode , changing usb ports, leads etc.My screen is going blank but itunes wil not recognise it so i cant restore it.

Ive tried Tiny Umbrella and Redsn0w again but again it wont recognise the iphone

Ive tried restarting apple mobile device and ipod service in "services.msc" but still no joy

I might be getting dfu mode but i have no way of telling.
Ive searched the net for the last few days and this is doing my nut.
Surely if i can get my pc/itunes to recognise i can restore it again back to 4.1.

Can anyone help with this please?

We really can't stress enough that people should rarely, if ever 'Erase all Content and Settings'. It causes a whole mess of problems -- it deletes the entire installed version of iOS and ALL data on the phone, meaning that it is no longer a phone until it is restored -- it has no function other than the bare level required to restore iOS to the device. This can cause many problems, from people being forced to restore with no SHSH to bootlooped phones that can't be recovered to bricked devices that never turn back on. Admittedly, it's rare that erasing the phone bricks it in the manner that you're describing, but I've seen it happen before.

If you can't get the phone into DFU mode, and if holding the power and home buttons for 10-15 seconds to force the phone to power cycle doesn't work, and none of what you do causes the machine to even recognize that you've plugged the device in, you may actually have to take it back to Apple to get it repaired.

Apple really shouldnt have that feature ( Erase all contents and settings) built in if it wasnt meant to be used

After taking the phone apart once more to check everything was as it should be ( as i had replaced the board a few weeks ago) I just discovered one of the connecting pins between the midframe chassis and the main board broke very easily when i touched it. Im wondering if this was my problem. The home button would not have worked properly with this.

Ive ordered a new screen assembly and will have to wait till it arrives during the week to try it.
