Hi all,Didn't know which subforum so...
Hope you can help, bloke gave me an iphone 3gs, broken screen, defuser and lower part of the lcd. Replacement is easy, but he had locked it with a passcode and does not remember what it is.
I have obtained the serial and discovered it's a week 40+ plus phone and have managed a tethered Jailbreak using blackrain.
I can get into the phone using irecovery but a lot of the other programs like iphone browser don't work. I know that deleting the keychain-2.db will unlock it from the passcode but I can't find the commands for irecovery, tried rm!!
Can't ssh or do anything on the phone itself.Using a windows platform to access phone.
Thanks in advance.
Well of course the easy way is to dfu restore but I sense you want to save the data that is currently on the iphone, right?
This will be much harder, considering the fact that it's a new bootrom 3Gs (otherwise you could use a modified redsn0w bundle to replace the keychain-2.db file).
There may be an easier solution, but all I can think of is this Mostly iPhone hacking: Working iPhone recovery ramdisk with SSH ;-)
I've done it once with a new bootrom iPhone 3Gs, it is *really* complicated, unless the data is very important, you should just restore.
Nope not bothered about data, I want to wipe it and hopefully use it!!
Well the put in DFU mode:
-Connect to PC
-Hold both power and home button for exactly 10 seconds
-Release power button but remain holding home
iTunes will ask to restore, you're done.
Yeah done that. Phone is in DFU mode, iTunes downloaded the latest firmware, then it kindly told me that it's not eligible for that build
Looked that up on the web and I have seen instructions to load Cydia and spoof the contacting apple. I can't do that as I have no way to load Cydia and the phone now seems locked in DFU
I also tried alt/restore at the same time to select the restore package, but iTunes seems to ignore that.
I'm at a loss, is there any other programs other than iTunes that will restore?
Seems like you will only be able to restore to 4.0, but then you will not be able to jailbreak/unlock, is that ok, or do you rely on unlock? If not, download the 4.0 ipsw and use shift+restore to select the file.
If you do rely on unlock, you will have to go on the "complicated route", send me a PM with your msn messenger/yahoo messenger and I can help you thru the process...
i have a similar issue, i bought an iPhone 3gs advertised as broken glass and digitizer, i replaced the glass and digitizer and phone boots up but asks a passcode. The seller says he bought a liquidation lot and have no knowledge of the passcode.
I could confirm this has the older bootrom [iBoot-359.3], checked this through "usbview".
I am guessing that this is running IOS 4 or IOS 3.1.3?? but was not jailbroken.
Now DiskAid and iPhone Browser would not connect to the iPhone as it is passcoded and iTunes would not connect to it it either.
I try to put it in DFU mode and tried to restored it with IOS 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1 but everytime iTunes gives me an error [error 2002, 2005 etc].
I also tried to put the phone in recovery mode and restore still iTunes error persists.
Tried it on PC and MAC.
Also, tried restoring it to a custom firmware 4.0 built with Pwnage Tool 4.0.1 but no luck.
