    thanks.
You want to google this and research it *thoroughly* before you do this. If someone just provides you installation instructions you'll never know that it permanently breaks your GPS, stops you from being able to restore normally ever again, immediately identifies your phone as jailbroken to Apple, etc. Do the research on google, you'll find both tutorials and all of the caveats of this method. I can't stress enough that I do not recommend this method, but it's your phone -- your mileage may vary.

Blank IMEI/WiFi/Cell usually means that the baseband has been bricked. You can attempt to fix this by restoring a version of iOS with the baseband update intact (e.g., don't use TinyUmbrella, don't build a No_BB firmware, just tell iTunes to update the phone), however, depending on what revision you're currently running, this may threaten your ability to unlock. In most cases, however, this sort if issue is not fixed with a flash and the phone must be brought in to Apple (or the baseband chip needs to be replaced, but that's a very in-depth repair for most home users).

Just because it worked yesterday doesn't mean it is still working today . Every product that fails has a day where it worked the day before and stopped working. Like I previously said, blank wifi/imei pretty much means your baseband is shot. If you attempted to upgrade to 5.1 and you're still having the blank wifi/imei issue, then it is pretty much guaranteed that the baseband has been irreversibly bricked. Take the phone to Apple and they should hopefully repair or replace if it is under warranty.

i have a 3Gs 8GB, after iPad baseband flashing, the baseband is not working all is zero, imei, bluetooth and wifi...
and i see many users have the same problems here, can you share opinion, if we can make the baseband flashing, reverse it to the original state before flashing iPad baseband, like the old method, "downgrading and upgrading baseband using terminal" not using iTunes method.

is there is a possibillity that someone is working on bootloader changing, or baseband flashing on new 3Gs models?

I had this problem and, after depleting all Google resources, I went into the unknown and tried stuff out. Basically, I got it partially working, as I will explain later ...

The steps I took are these:
    1. Try and restore the whole iOS using iTunes. Most likely, it will fail at the "Restoring firmware" part. At that point, just reset it (hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously until the iPhone resets) BUT immediately start the steps to enter DFU mode. Please note that, if you don't start immediately, the iPhone will go back into restore mode and try and restore again (failing again).
    2. At this point, jailbreak it (I used redsnow)
    3. After jailbreak, restore it again (same option as step 1). This time it won't fail at the Restoring Firmware part.

This is how I got it working. The funny thing is that every time it failed at step 1 and I attempted jailbreaking it (I tried several times, to be sure) the jailbreaking software fixed some corrupted files and catalogs. It seems that these developers did a much better job at taking care of the iDevices than Apple developers do.

HOWEVER, every now and then I DO get no service (with NO jailbreak). I tried to find out why and I tried removing the SIM card while in "No Service" to see how long would it take to notice that no SIM card is installed. Every time, it took my iPhone from 10 seconds to a whole minute to say "No SIM card". This leads me to the conclusion that the problem lies either:
    - the baseband chip (not very likely, as it is still working and I did get full days of operation without No Service after the three steps)
    - the internal memory where the baseband driver is located

I'm just throwing this out there, but I think that this internal memory sector, being a very busy one, gets damaged somehow (as a lot of never-jailbroken devices have been reported to have this problem). Apple's "replace everything" solution is great, if you still have warranty. If you don't, well ... you can try my solution and try and sell your device ASAP. If any developers read this, my humble suggestion is for someone to try and move the baseband driver to a different location in the iPhone's internal storage. I am about 80% sure this will solve this kind of problems.

I was able to fix eventually. It was definitely a process... that's for sure.

    I did have a different error code (1013,1014,1015). AT&T model IPhone 3g 4.2.1 baseband 5.15

    irecovery - failed
    fix recovery - failed
    tiny umbrella - failed
    greenpoison - failed

Restore to 4.1, but went into another recovery loop.

    irecovery - failed
    fix recovery - failed
tiny umbrella - success kicking out of recovery mode.

At that point is when I received the message "Restore is Needed......Iphone cannot make calls", or something like that.
Tiny umbrella wouldn't show the model number, imei, etc...

I then jailbroke it using the trusty redsnow 0.9.6b06, and left the baseband alone. It rebooted after, and that's when I noticed that the imei, baseband, etc.. were missing. Wifi greyed out, Bluetooth not available....

So after researching this, I learned that there were several possible fixes. What Olethros is saying IS true, perhaps to your specific situation/error code. However, NOT every instance of having an iphone where the imei, baseband, etc.. were missing. Wifi greyed out, Bluetooth not available, etc... is a hardware issue, or not able to be fixed, because I eventually fixed it.

I decided to try to install the iPad baseband, and that's what gave me wifi, bluetooth, and the rest all back. What was missing was the ability to make calls/get service. At first it was always "searching".

When connected it to the computer and opened itunes, itunes said it "couldn't read" the iphone, and that it needed to be restored.

I decided to restore/update it to 4.2.1, and again, it went into a recovery loop. And again...

    irecovery - failed
    fix recovery - failed
    tiny umbrella - failed
    greenpoison - failed

What worked at getting out of recovery was entering (via redsnow 0.9.6b6) PWND DFU mode, and restoring to a custom jailbroken and activated firmware. Make sure host file is not pointing to cydia.

Still, no Cell signal though with AT&T sim. I updated Cydia, then installed Ultrasnow. At that point I got a signal... & still had wifi... bluetooth.. imei.. etc...

So it was the baseband re-installation, then unlocking that for the most part worked the magic. I do know for a fact the iphone was AT&T branded too, which confuses me why it wouldn't work with an AT&T sim before unlocking. Oh well...

I am sure this won't work for everyone with similar symptoms.
But I hope this helps someone.
hey man, I've got exactly the same problem. I was just wondering What IPSW did you use when you put your iphone to PWND DFU mode?

I am also encountering this problem with an iPhone4 on iOS 5.1.1 which I had unlocked here in China where I'm living.

I had unlocked my older iPhones before however I couldn't find the resources to do so with the baseband that I had (which I cannot remember the number now..) so I went to a technology market and paid a guy to unlock it for me. It worked for a couple of months then this morning I noticed WiFi, bluetooth, cellular and IMEI were not available.

I read the posts in this forum and it looks like I'm pretty screwed... I hooked my phone up to xcode and the device logs are all blank, however I did get a lengthy console text which I'm going to paste here (sorry in advance for the long console text)..

Let me know if this helps determine what the problem may be.. I'm kinda stuck in the meantime wondering what step to take next since my phone is out of warrant and the Chinese Apple store won't touch my phone since I bought it in America.
