Default new iphone with 3.1.2 OS

    Hi guys,

Not sure if anyone has been in situation like myself but:

I had an iphone for 7 weeks that has been jailbroken but crashed with IMEI - unknown and CCID?? uknown as well, error 23 reported but restored successfully to non functioning (emergency only) iphone. anyway, i have a replacement with exactly same OS as the previous iphone. is there a way to jailbreak this one with the JB OS i already have from previous unit ??? just asking as I'm aware of forced OS 3.1.3 update from apple .

    many thanks

Find out what bootrom you have with the replacement phone. Hopefully it is the old bootrom. As it is a refurb unit, you might have a chance

There is a much smaller chance your new phone has a SHSH on Cydia. You can test this out with firmware umbrella.

Either way, (old/new bootrom, SHSH or no SHSH) youc an still jailbreak (I recommend redsn0w 0.9.2) but you need to be careful about what you install.

Default replacement has gone for another exchange

I got a new one again as I wasn't happy with the first replacement, the connector looked like it has been used for 10 years. I got replacement with connector in much better shape but still it's got some dirt - looks like a dried mud.
anyway I still got it and it does work, the only thing is - it's got a latest OS 3.1.3 but old bootrom, is there a chance that it might be JB previously and might have the hashes on Cydia? is there a way to check this so I could have a chance to downgrade it a JB again ?

    thanks guys

Yes see PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X for details on how to get ECID and confirm you have the old bootrom (guessing the bootrom version via serial number is even less reliable on refurb iPhones)

Then look at this guide, starting at the System profiler/umbrella section Hack that Phone - iPhone 3G S: Restoring "forbidden" firmware

    You *might* be lucky

Thank you mate, you are trying to be very helpful I really appreciate it, but I still don't get how to check if my current ECID SHSH from this replacement unit is stored at the Saurik's server. I know how to check my ECID on my phone together with bootrom but the Umbrella soft will only let me store the current hash not check for previous one, please correct me if I'm wrong.

    thanks

You are wrong. Umbrella will let you retrieve your current hash from Apple (3.1.3 only), from Cydia (whatever is stored) or even locally (this used with tinyTSS)
