I've just replaced my old phone with a new one under a warranty, so the new one had 3.1.2 and new bootrom.

I then jailbroke it through blackra1n and installed sn0w. However, the unlock doesn't seem to work and I always seem to have the 'New SIM Detected' message followed by activation screen. Making it ra1n doesn't help.

My understanding is that I should reinstall sn0w on a fresh copy of 3.1.2, to correct this issue. However, there seems to be no way to come back from jailbroken 3.1.2 to pristine 3.1.2 through iTunes (it says 'Device not eligible for build'), only to 3.1.3, which I don't want since it will kill my jailbreak.

And no, I don't have my SHSH hash, since it's a new phone...

Any idea how to restore to pristine 3.1.2, or is it not possible?

It is not possible for you to restore to 3.1.2.
Have you done an official activation through iTunes ?

Yep, it was activated at the Genius Bar, when they replaced it...

I would try again to turn it off and on. Attach it to the computer and run blackra1n again.

Senior members suggest it's a problem with hacktivation being handled by blackra1n.

So, apparently, I need a patched lockdownd. Any idea where I get it from and how do I apply it?

We can't distribute modified apple binaries on this forum.

The patch you need is in pwnagetool's app bundle. That combined with xpwn is all you need to do this yourself.

suggests that replacing lockdownd will brick the iphone. The case looks similar to mine... I found a lockdownd file, but I only have one attempt, since it will be impossible for me to go back to original 3.1.2.

What do you think?
