Need to update Iphone 3gs firmware 3.1.2
I tried to look for relevant info but couldnt find any.
I have a factory locked but jailbreak iphone 3gs on firmware 3.1.2. everytime i restart my phone it gets locked and I have to jailbreak it again which i do using blackra1n.
Can anyone please show me how can I update to latest i.o.s and get rid of this pain to jailbreak at every restart?
I mean if you do a search there are answers out there. Easiest way is to plug it into your computer hit restore and itunes will tell you to install the latest update. You have to restore your phone, but when you do that you'll lose all of your jailbreaking stuff and if you decide to jailbreak again you'll have to find a new route to jailbreak. Sounds like you are using an tethered jailbreak which means every time your phone dies or you turn it off, you have to jailbreak it again. My suggestion... back up your phone so you don't lose your important things i.e contacts, music, photos. Then restore your phone, update to 4.3.3 and then if you want to jailbreak it again, find an untethered jailbreak.
Though Danman03 is correct (and the OP didn't mention if he's an unlocker), it's worth mention that if you restore to a factory 4.3.3, you'll have upgraded your baseband to one that cannot presently be unlocked (without another upgrade to the iPad baseband, which really just isn't worth the hassle). Because of this, if you have any desire to unlock the phone in the future, make sure you use PwnageTool to create a custom firmware for 4.3.3 that doesn't include the baseband update. Other than that though, Danman03 is correct. You're frustration comes from the fact that you have a tethered boot jailbreak right now. You can resolve this without restoring by finding the proper version of redsn0w for the 3GS with iOS 3.1.2, as an untethered jailbreak did exist. Alternately, you can upgrade to 4.3.3, but some people have had performance issues on the 3G and 3GS that makes 4.x not a viable option for them.
