Default Need to restore iPhone 3GS

I am having some issues with my iPhone. My phone keeps shutting off and will not turn back on using the power button. When I plug in the power cord the low battery indicator is displayed along with the thunderbolt (suggesting the battery is completely out of power) even though I have 100% battery. When I get the phone powered up it shows I have 100% power. Another issue is Cydia will not open on the phone and crashes within a few seconds of opening.

So now I am attempting to restore the phone to see if this fixes the issues I am having. I am currently running the 3.0.1 firmware and am attempting to restore to the same version. When I try to restore to 3.0.1 itunes gives me the error “The iPhone could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build.”

As far as I know right now I have 2 options:
    1. Restore to the latest iPhone firmware 3.1.3
    2. Restore to 3.1.3 using the Snowbreeze modified firmware (still unsure if this is possible)

Does anyone have any other ideas of how I can fix these issues I am having or know how I can restore to an older firmware?

    Someone please help!!!!

    Thanks!

Try to avoid sn0wbreeze if you can. Use pwnagetool, it is far better tested than sn0wbreeze.

You don't need to restore to 3.1.2, you can restore to *any* custom firmware (I recommend 3.1.2)

I wish it was as easy as restoring to 3.1.2, however if I try to restore to 3.1.2 I get the error message "The iPhone could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build." Also I dont have the SHSH saved for my phone. Any other ideas?

I mentioned "custom firmware" you need to restore this in recovery mode.

DFU can only restore unmodified Apple IPSW with a corresponding valid SHSH

Make your own with pwnagetool on the mac. Or download a pre-made one from the web. The rules of this forum don't allow me to link to pre-made custom ipsw.
