Need help in unlocking

hi everyone, Got my new iphone 3GS (no contract )from states,i stay in saudi arabia. I have jailbreaken the phone using the redsn0w and tried to install ultrasn0w but cydia keep giving me this error message of size mismatch. later installed purplesn0w for unlocking the iphone and it got installed. But the problem is that i have inserted my sawa( saudi stc) sim in the iphone but the network is not there, is there something i have missed or overlooked, any suggestions or comments are welcome. Appreciate your efforts in advance.,

p.s. forgot to mention that while jailbreaking kept the at&t sim, not much sure about which sim should be present whether the one i want to use or the at&t one. it looks in the cydia that purplesn0w has been installed but i am unable to get the network signal. The pop up of waiting for activation keeps coming.
So any suggestions what should i do now. I am very much confused.

I think you must first activate.

First, insert the AT&T sim that came in your iPhone into your device and connect it to your computer and launch itunes. Wait for it to activate and then try again.

Thats what I always do - Im using VIVA Kuwait (thats the STC in Saudi Arabia) so I guess it should work fine.

If you are JBing with RedSn0w you should just leave your local SIM in and let it hactivate.
The size mismatch while trying to install UltraSn0w is ussually a temprary glitch in Cydia, if you try again a bit later it should work.

I happened to try it later on with the same approach and it worked.
Although i think the problem could have been related to the wifi provider, because when i changed the wifi i got ultrasn0w installed in the first go itself.
Plus the good think was the at&t sim was also activated.
So guys thanx a lot...
