Need help with 3gs 3.1.3 downgraded to 3.1.2
Hi guys,
I need some help with my phone.
I lent my mrs my factory unlocked 3gs for a while.
It was jailbroken with Blackra1n and I showed her how she needed to run Blackra1n each time the phone booted up.
The silly woman forgot after a while, and after running out of battery and being faced with the restore screen she upgraded to 3.1.3 AAAAARRRRGH!
Anyways, because I had saved my SHSH to Cydia Server, I was able to downgrade to 3.1.2 and use blackra1n to kick it out of restore mode.
But now its not detecting my mobile network at all!!!!
Anyone know how to get it to detect it? The phone is factory unlocked
Or is there a way to jailbreak 3.1.3 using windows? I cant use snowbreeze since its already been upgraded to the official 3.1.3 version.
Please help,
I cannot bear the thought of an un-jailbroken iphone.
It's like sex without a partner, just masturbation lol
Any info would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Kev

Your problem is that you used blackra1n too early. You need to let the iPhone restart normally and activate with iTunes before you jailbreak. I think what you want to do is possible, but probably not with blackra1n.
It should be possible to use iRecovery to kickstart the boot process after the restore and then let it activate.. Only then should you use a jailbreak. I would NOT recommend blackra1n, use redsn0w 0.9.2 it does a better job of the jailbreak and also supports kick starting the phone after each restart.

Thanks Olethros, You Rock!
Will give it a go now.
I will google for iRecovery.
If I cant find it, can you point me in the right direction?

Are you on windows? On mac or linux you can simply compile it yourself with free tools. Windows.. bit more hassle.
Try iRecovery: Get Out iPhone from Recovery Mode Loop on Restart | iPhone

What method did you use to jailbreak again? Pwnagetool, redsn0w blackra1n?

If you run redsn0w 0.9.2 or 0.9.4 and select already pwned and install cydia you should get Cydia back. What you are experiencing seems to be a blackra1n bug.

Hey Olethros,
When I jailbroke my iPhone, I went against your advice and used blackra1n. I've used it before and feel safer doing what I know.
The drawback is, with my version 3GS it's a tethered jailbreak and I need to run blackra1n each time my phone boots up.
Just wondering if there is a way around this yet. Does redsn0w use a tethered jailbreak? I'm just worried one day I'll be stuck with my phone in restore mode when I really need it.
Cheers

Redsn0w 0.9.2 supports tethered jailbreak. It uses the same method as blackra1n for this (redsn0w is actually slightly faster and smaller at this type of jailbreak because it does not download that frodo picture to your iPhone)
There is no solution to avoid tethered jailbreak yet.
Blackra1n is OK, you just have to fix a lot more after jailbreaking with blackra1n. Redsn0w gets it right first time.
The real problem is blacksn0w as it can trigger the wifi big.
