    Default Location Services Problem

Hi! I have a 3gs with bb 6.15 running ios 5.0.1 everything works great except for location services. Whenever I have it on, my wifi and carrier signal drops, comes back then drops again every few seconds (i think). I already installed SAM - it says wildcardactivated - fixed imessage but not the location services. Can anybody share a solution short of re-jailbreaking/re-unlocking (a nightmare)?

    Thanks in advance.

Lhasha, I'm not an expert on iPhones, but I have a 3GS also, which was jailbroken and unlocked and now had 5.0.1 and baseband 06.15.00, as yours does.

What I've heard about location services with that baseband, is mostly bad news, and seems to be true for my phone:

1.) Baseband 06.15.00 is the iPod baseband, and is often used to unlock 3GS's. But it disables the GPS chip in the 3GS, and leaves your location services working with only the info the phone can get from WiFi, which is spotty.

2.) Once you install that baseband 06.15.00 on your 3GS, you can't go back. At least not with any present software tools.

That's the situation my phone is in. And it sounds like yours is, too. Sorry for the bad news.

You other folks out there, is this correct? I'm not an expert, as I said, and I hope I'm wrong. But more than one person who seems to know what they are talking about, have told me this.

Thanks for your reply but numbers 1 and 2 I already know. I was fully aware of these issues when I decided to flash to 6.15 to convert my ipod to iphone lol. I do not regret going to 6.15 but I do regret updating to os5. I have used this baseband for a year on 4.3.3 with no problem using location services with 3g and wifi on. But now on 5.0.1 my carrier and wifi signals are dropping with location on. It seems to me I have no option but to rejailbreak and reunlock.

If you haven't already tried this, re-flash the iOS baseband. Upgrading to 5.x seems to impact the currently flashed 06.15 and people seem to have these problems until they re-flash the iPad baseband to the phone. You shouldn't need to restore and re-jailbreak, and you don't want to -- since SHSH don't work for iOS 5.0.1, if you bootloop your phone, you're screwed and can only restore to 4.x No_BB with SHSH, or 5.1 No_BB (tethered/semi-tethered jailbreak only at this point) -- not a good situation to be in.
The preceding forum post has been brought to you by the letter "N" and the number 42.

    iPhone 4, 32GB (iOS 6.1.2 | evasi0n | SHSH: 4.0 - 6.1.2)
    iPad 2 3G, 64GB (iOS 6.1.2 | evasi0n
    |
    SHSH: 4.3 & 4.3.3 - 6.1)
