Modem Firmware: 05.11.07
Device: Factory-Unlocked Apple iPhone 3G[S]

[Introduction]
It would be safe to say, you can consider my iPhone as an OTB, out the box, 3.1.0 iPhone 3G[S]. An hour before the release of “PwnageTool 3.1.3.dmg”, I restored my Redsn0w’ed iPhone to firmware 3.1.0 because my iPhone would not boot on 3.0.0. Since I’ve done a restore via iTunes, my iPhone is no longer ‘pwned’ regardless of my previous JB.

[The Problem]
Just to get things clear, I’m not looking to downgrade the baseband from my unfortunate upgrade, baseband 05.11.07, since I don’t need to unlock my iPhone. In other words, the phone is factory-unlocked and therefore I don’t want to unlock it.

That said, will I be able to jailbreak my iPhone 3G[S] any time soon? As far as I know, jailbreak usually gets released a lot faster than the unlock. Would I be considered overly ‘hopeful’ to be expecting this anytime this week?

Can’t believe I upgraded ‘blindly’ an hour before the dev-team released the new version of the PwnageTool, I appreciate any sort of feedback (including attacks on my vulnerability, but I’m already sad and that’s just mean =P).

If you have updated to 3.1 & you don't have your SHSH blobs ether on saurik server or backed up locally on your PC you cant downgrade the 3GS firmware.

If you can't downgrade to 3.0 or 3.0.1 firmware you cant pwn/jailbreak the phone in preparation to use a custom IPSW made with pwnagetool 3.1.3.

EDIT: ...and if anyone has recently found a new way to exploit the 'eligible' downgrade (or any other method to JAILBREAK).

No one but the Dev team no when the next version of JB will be released & they never ever give time frames.

However apart from pwnagetool if you want to read about another tool in the pipe line you may find Chronic Dev's JB interesting

@OP, Was your iPhone jailbroken on 3.0, and if so, did you allow Cydia to cache your ECID SHSH blobs on Saurik's server?

hi there..it seems i have done the same mistake discussed.I have updated via itunes and not manually to 3.1.2!! I have a 3Gs bought(in greece) which was boughts OTB unlocked by the carrier. model firmware now says 05.11.07 and version 3.1.2(7D11).
Does this mean i can not jailbreak neither with blackrain nor with ultrasnow? Does this mean i am 'locked' to this baseband..because i get the feeling from what i read that there is simply no way to reverse back to older baseband once updated!!am i wrong?
and one more question,even if i have placed myself in the position where i cannot do anything but wait till next jailbreak,...can i ONLY jailbreak, or do i have to unlock too?

If you have a truly factory unlocked phone then you are fine... There is no problem in having upgraded to 05.11.07 and you can still jailbreak with blackra1n or pwnagetool.

my case is the following:
