Jailbreak on 3gs is now possible?
iClarified - Apple News - GeoHot Discovers Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS?
Looks like geohot has a bootloader exploit. Any ideas how long before we'll see a unlock for 3gs now?

I don't know what you are getting at, smirkis...
Nothing of what ligerny said was a contradiction.
You do realize that Jailbreak ≠ Unlock, right?

MuscleNerd says that once 3G S is jailbroken, it should automatically be vulnerable to the unlock exploit since they share the same baseband version! Can't wait to enjoy the jailbreak coolness on the new 3G S

Im sure if its posable the Dev team are working on releasing a user friendly interface tool to jailbreak & unlocking the 3GS.
After all theirs still plenty more colors to add sn0w to the end of

Yea... Cause sn0w is the perfect way to describe a jailbreak...
I can see redsn0w, as the iPod Touch 2nd Gen Jailbreak was like pissing blood for a while there, but what other analogy can be drawn at this point?
Purplera1n is a current pop-culture reference, and looks like that's GeoHot's personal naming preference...

If people are already bypassing the security on the 3G S I am amazed. You would think since the processor isn't a simple revision of the original they would have built in more security hooks that are supported by the new hardware for the iPhone2,1.
Unlock I am not surprised, the radio is basically the same as in the 3G with a few software stack tweaks to enable the 7.2 mbps capability of the 3G+ specs. Since no one is running the 7.2 mbps it wouldn't surprise me that they are just using the same firmware and software stack as the 3G to keep down development costs and keep people off of the 7.2 test networks.
I am starting to get the feeling other then them writing a few kexts and tweaking a few things for the new hardware in the S they are just treating it as a 3G, then optimizing to the new security and features offered by the hardware at a later date.

Now that the ramdisk is decrypted, what is the best guess ETA for a jailbreak for 3gs?

Telstra NextG already runs at 7.2MBbs here in Australia. Whether the iPhone 3GS can connect to that network at 7.2MBbs (and more to the point, whether Telstra are going to carry the 3GS or not) is unknown.
