So the situation is this.. Today I purchased a used Iphone 3GS that in general said "Version 4.1". I realized all of the prior owners information ect was still on the phone so I opted to use the function on the phone to "Erase all data and settings" or whatever it was. Anyways, after that I started trying to restore the Iphone but I'm stuck at the screen with the "Plug in Iphone to Itunes' screen. I know the previous owner had unlocked/jailbroken the phone but I'm so new to the use of Macintosh. When I try to use Itunes to do their regular Software Update+Install or whatever it comes back with Error 1015. This is way frusterating and I'm down a phone. PLEASE HELP!

What baseband does the phone currently have?

The moderators have explained repeatedly that for 99% of users, selecting "erase all content and settings" is not the correct choice when they want to remove previous owner's data.
