    Default iPhone 3gs signal issues

So ive been searching the internet for a couple weeks now and still havet found a fix. basically my 3gs is stuck saying "no signal".
i have it jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 and im not quite sure what my baseband is.

i was just wondering if upgrading my baseband would fix this and if anybody knows a walk through i could use?

    so far ive tried:
    restoring and re-jailbreaking
    disabling 3g
    resetting settings + network settings
    and the sim card trick

none of these have worked plz help

TinyUmbrella will tell you your baseband version.
Redsn0w is not an unlock. You either need to use a SIM card from the carrier your phone is locked to or install ultrasn0w (which any only unlock some basebands)

ok so my baseband is 5.15.04
i wasnt sure if i needed to unlock it because my phone is locked to rogers and i have a rogers plan.

but this is what doesnt makes sense to me, i jailbroke it and everything was good for a couple days then it went to no service. so i restored and jailbroke again and same thing, fine for a few days and then back to no signal :/

Edit: just did the untrasn0w unlock and now its stuck on searching

You should not need ultrasn0w in this situation.

    The correct order:
    Restore with SIM inserted.
    Let iTunes activate the phone
Set up phone as new (option but recommended for troubleshooting)
    Jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8

If that doesn't work, talk to Rogers, there could be something wrong with your SIM or plan - I'm assuming your plan is a plan Rogers allows to be used on iPhones.

yeah i figured id give it a shot lol

those are the exact same steps i tried before, worked perfect for about 3 or 4 days and then back to no service
and yes it is it is a plan for iphones
do you think it could be hardware related? my moms 3g and my sisters 3gs have full bars all around the house. both of them are jailbroken with redsn0w as well its only mine is messed up

It could be a hardware problem with your phone.

But it's more likely to be your SIM card, or an activation problem with your carrier. Speak to them.

ok so i talked to rogers, got a new sim card and activated it and everything, restored my phone to factory settings, its on 4.3.1 now, non-jailbroken annd the problem still persists....im leaning towards hardware issue now, what do you think? is there anything else i can try?

also, not sure if this is relevant but theres no issue with my wifi, that works perfectly fine

Yeah sounds like hardware to me, what details about the sim card are reported in settings about?
