Default Iphone 3GS keeps switching itself off

HAve a 16GB iphone 3gs. But it keeps turning itself off, especially when i try to use an app or even just try and send a msg, if i dont touch it. everything is fine. But once i start to use it. it'll knock itself off. It was jailbreaked but since i have taken it off and restore it as well, currently running 3.1.2.

    Can anyone help me???

Did you use DFU mode when you removed the jailbreak?
You also need to set the iPhone up as new after the restore to ensure that no remnants of the jailbreak remain.

No, didn't know what a DFU mode is. what can i do now then? All, i done was just upgrade my phone to 3.1.2, i thot this would take away the jailbreak anyway. I'll try and set my phone up as new now, but would i lose all my contacts and stuff if i do? Can i bring them all back at a later date? thanx

    DFU mode - http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/54082.htm

Upgrading by itself will not completely remove the jailbreak. You should try hard to avoid upgrading a jailbroken iPhone as Cydia does not currently support "upgrading", only "restoring" of the iPhone OS.

If you still have problems after a DFU mode restore and setting up the iPhone as new, there is more chance it is a hardware problem.
