Default iPhone 3gs 4.1 BB 6.15 crashes power charger needed to turn on

    Hey,

I recently got a used 4gs with 4.1 jailbroken and unlocked bb 6.15, this is white 16gb version, the phone shuts down often even with battery showing %age more 60% even more than 70% battery and shows a few dim lines on the screen. after this i have to connect the charger to turn it on properly otherwise it just shows the apple sign and crashes again. It crashed while using camera, wifi, video call, multitasking, sending text message.

the phone was working fine a week ago, below are a things i tried to do with it which might help you to detect the problem.

i recently tried the theme (COOLEST iPhone And iPod Touch THEME EVER - iOS Vlog 146 - YouTube) its a unlock screen theme which required sbsettings, winterboard, clockhide to be installed from cydia.

also i plugged in Nokia headset jack in the phone and later on found that pin outs do not match with that of iPhone instead of mic is ground and vice versa. i also check apple genuine headset which works perfectly after that and use normal headphone occasionally which work ok.

it did not crash a single time while connected to the charger or computer,

Now i am thinking to upgrade to 5.0.1. would that HELP?

Also i need to know whether this problem is known or is there any solution to it?

is battery gone wrong or something?

i have searched apple support and other forums it did not help

    PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE

    THANKS

Use the iPhone Enterprise Configuration tool to grab a console log from the phone after you turn it back on once it has turned itself off. You can get this utility from Apple's site for free. The console log will be useful, please post it on a site like pastebin and link to us to review. I don't imagine that upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 will fix this.

thank you for your reply, i did as you specified battery % was in 70s, wifi was connected launched a game the phone crashed showing some lines on the screen, i connected it opened log files but logs show events after the phone crashed, NOT the operations performed before or at the time of crash.

can I upgrade to 4.3.3 or 4.3.5 with the BB 6.15 and unlock it? Is there a guide to do that, please let me know. just want to try different ios other than ios5. if that makes some difference

Changing your iOS revision has little to no possibility of fixing the issue, but you are more than welcome to switch.

I do have the same exact issue with the same configs... Has the upgrade to 5.0 helped you?? or your battery was the one faulty?

A little bit yes... on 4.1 it usually shutdown around 70% battery but after upgrading to 5.0.1 the phone shutdowns around 60%, so there was a little increase in battery time i guess. i usually keep wifi 3g n other stuff off and turn on when only needed to save as much as i can, so with that stand by timing is around 8 hours...but issue was in battery else phone would have crashed while connected to power....so solution would be to change the battery,,,i sold my phone did not want it to be opened
