    Question iPHone 3Gs to 3.1.3?

    Hello all..

So I've got an iPhone 3Gs 3.1.2 and I used blackra1n to jailbreak it. Reading all over the place, I'm trying to find out the best method to upgrade to 3.1.3 without losing apps, settings, etc.

How can I also upgrade and still retain cydia apps? Is this possible?

If this is all already posted somewhere, I apologize, lead me too it and I'll come back if I have questions.

For what it's worth, here is my phones info:
    Version: 3.1.2(7D11)
    Model: MC135LL

    Thanks in advance!

Why do you want 3.1.3? There is only one bug fix of any value, the battery life issue -- if you're not experiencing it, there's no point to install 3.1.3. If you're getting denied at running apps due to the firmware version, get the firmware changer from Cydia, that will fake iTunes and your phone into believing you're 3.1.3.

I don't recommend upgrading to 3.1.3 under any circumstance -- there is absolutely no reason to do it.

Fair enough! Sorry I didn't get back to you in time, wasn't around much last week due to a few things going on. There is a way to do it, depending on your model phone -- you can use 3.1.3 and do a legit activation and use Spirit to jailbreak -- but I'm guessing you figured that out already

It's all good - The spoof app worked better than doing that upgrade.. Upgrading to 4.0 will be interesting - especially since we'll have to lose all the cydia apps and all

    Thanks again!

I always recommend that you do a "clean" restore - especially with major OS updates. You avoid the chance of experiencing any "weird problems" that way.

There are apt-backup tools that can preserve the Cydia apps if you really want to. Many Cydia apps will need updates for OS 4.0 - especially the ones that modify the system via MobileSubstrate etc. Backgrounder, SBSettings, Winterboard. Again best to just reinstall them after a clean restore.

Yep! I agree with that concept and I do the same. But you now how it is .. You get it all setup the way you like and all

But I'm eager to run the new OS.. So it's well worth it.. And yea, it will be interesting to see how many apps (or how quickly) will run on OS4
