Question iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 - stuck in reboot mode with apple logo - Need help please

I have an iPhone 3GS on 3.1.2 (05.07.11) which was jailbroken using blackra1n and then unlocked. I recently starting having issues with WiFi and GPS not working and so I googled the issue and a site recommended to reset the network settings on the iPhone. I attempted this and upon pressing the "Reset Network Settings" button the iphone went into this reboot loop where it shows the apple logo and then after 20 -30 seconds screen goes black for a second then back to apple logo.

Can someone please help me recover from this issue.

    Thanks in advance.

This is a common problem with blacksn0w. Blacksn0w is an unreliable unlock and can corrupt the baseband.

There are different ways to fix this (do you have a SHSH for 3.1.2?, do you need to keep the data currently on your iPhone?)

This is also well documented on this forum. See for example http://www.hackint0sh.org/f220/124913.htm and http://www.hackint0sh.org/f203/90394.htm

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I believe my SHSH file was uploaded to cydia and I think I have a copy of it on my computer as well. The only thing I do not want to loose is my contacts information. Is there a way to find out the contents of the backup of the contacts in iTunes?

Thanks for the links I will read through those and see if I can fix the issue.

    Thanks again.

There are tools to view/extract the iTunes backup (only if it is not encrypted) iPhone / iPod Touch Backup Extractor for mac for example. There are several windows tools also.

The contacts are stored in a sqlite database. A useful post is Recover data from an iPhone backup | Geeky Ninja

There are also existing threads that deal with this issue on hackint0sh. Search around.
