OK -- So I've been having the same problem for about a month now. My signal quality is at times completely gone, and at times works great. This happens regardless of where I am, indoors/outdoors, doesn't matter. When the phone is jacked up I can't send or receive txt msgs, I can't access the data network and phone calls won't go out. Sometimes I will have 1 or 2 bars that drops to nothing and then no service, other times the signal strength will be normal and just nothing works, still other times the "E" for the edge network disappears and other times it's on. I can't find any patter here.

When this first began happening about a month ago I called T-Mobile and they suggested I upgrade my physical SIM card, which I did, but it didn't help at all. The guy at the T-mobile store tested my new SIM in a loaner phone and it worked fine. I then thought that maybe it was because I used the "hacktivate" option when I had recently upgrade to 4.3.3 but I was a little skeptical of that because the beginning of my signal problems didn't coincide with the same day that I upgraded the firmware of my device. Either way, I tried reinstalling everything using Pwnage Tool and my phone was working fine for several weeks. I thought I had fixed whatever was going on for good..

Well, here we are on May 5th and I've been dealing with this again now for about 3 days. I was thinking it might be a hardware problem but I am starting to think it might not be. I called T-mobile's support and they said I should change my data network APN from "wap.voicestream.com" to "epc.tmobile.com," which I did, and then reset the phone as they suggested but that didn't help my data network or my voice network.

The strangest thing is that sometimes my phone works great.. but when I most need it it craps out and I can't make or receive calls, text messages, or data..

Anyone else with this same problem recently? I'm in Los Angeles, if that makes any difference..
