Unhappy Iphone 3.1.2 stuck in DFU mode

I bought this new Iphone 3GS with firmware 3.1.2 in China (Model - MC179CH/A) and tried to jailbreak/unlock it as I want to use the phone in another country.

I first tried to use Blackrain RC3 and succeeded in performing a Jailbreak on the phone. But, unfortunately I did not have a wifi connection and thus could not download and use Blacksnow.

Thereafter, I tried to use Pwnage tool 3.1.4 and built a custom firmware using 3.1.2 as the base. After doing the custom restore through itunes - it gave me an error (which I cant remember).

Now my phone is stuck in DFU mode (black screen - not able to power up, not able to restart, no combination of Home/Power button is working). I tried to restore with base 3.1.2 firmware and it did not work. I tried to restore with custom firmware built through the Pwnage tool and it did not work.

Now, I am stuck and dont know what to do. I can try and drain the battery and maybe it will go back to recovery mode when recharged again. But, how long would it take to drain the battery as the phone would hardly be using any battery at this point and most of all would it work.

Assuming that this works, which firmware and software do I use to Jailbreak and unlock the phone. I would prefer to use the Pwnage tool if it would work.

I have gone through numerous posts on this site and others but unable to find the exact solution to my problem. I am hoping you will be able to help me. The following information I recovered from the System Profiler.

    Apple Mobile Device (DFU Mode):

    Product ID: 0x1227
    Vendor ID: 0x05ac (Apple Inc.)
    Version: 0.00
    Serial Number: CPID:8920 CPRV:15 CPFM:03 SCEP:03 BDID:00 ECID:000001263A18ED0F SRTG:[iBoot-359.3.2]
    Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Apple Inc.
    Location ID: 0xfd100000
    Current Available (mA): 500
    Current Required (mA): 100

    Thanks in advance.

It is in DFU mode because you used Pwnagetool (which does not work on new bootrom 3GS - like you have).

Can't restore OS 3.1.2 because you lack a SHSH for that version see Apple stopped signing 3.1.2 today

More research was required before you jailbroke. Originally you could have had a tethered jailbreak and an unlock without wifi. Now you have destroyed your options.

You have 1 option for jailbreak which was only released today.

Spirit jailbreak... this requires that you first activate the phone in iTunes with a valid Chinese carrier SIM card.

This will also upgrade your baseband - removing any chance of an unlock in the short term.

I wish I had better news. You have no other options, there is no way out of DFU mode aside from restoring an official IPSW with a SHSH. If you have no SHSH for 3.1.2 then you must restore 3.1.3

All this has been asked before and as a result there are many similar threads to yours which is why I am closing this thread.
