iPhone 3.0.1 JB/UNLOCKED Help
Hello,
My father asked me to wipe his phone and jailbreak/unlock it again.
I first went to
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings
the phone began to wipe then it froze so i rebooted the phone and now
its stuck at the Apple logo.
I tried to get it to go into recovery mode but it does not and it just keeps going into DFU mode (BLACK SCREEN)
I have tried to do a custom restore with itunes to 3.1.2 but i get the 1600 error . If i try to restore to 3.0.1 i get Verifying Restore with Apple servers error.
Please advise .

By the way the phone ran 3.0.1 with the old baseband

This is behavior by design. Wiping all content and settings also wipes the OS and you must load an OS back on to the device before it will boot again.

The 3GS cannot have a custom firmware loaded from DFU mode -- only from recovery mode.
As Olethros mentioned, you can upgrade to 3.1.2/3.1.3 and keep your unlock so long as you use one of the approved methods to upgrade without upgrading your baseband. If you don't have an SHSH on file for 3.1.2 (you may, if the phone was JB previously), then you'll need to use 3.1.3, but if you have an SHSH on file, it's recommended you use 3.1.2 -- easier jailbreak, more robust tools, no Spirit requirement, unlockable baseband, etc.
Search the forum for TinyTSS / Firmware Umbrella information and see if you have an SHSH on file for 3.1/3.1.2. If not, follow the instructions in Olethros's post for getting to 3.1.3 without upgrading the baseband and you should have a jailbreakable, unlockable phone again.
The preceding forum post has been brought to you by the letter "N" and the number 42.
