I scr*wed up big time .. I had my blackra1ned 3GS that worked almost completely.. The 3G network didn't work, unfortunately - the 3G-toggle and internet settings weren't showing in the iPhones settings. I thought that BossPrefs/SBSettings were messing with this, so I removed it and restarted.. But that didn't work.. I tried the "Reset Connection Settings" (sorry if my translations aren't completely correct - I use Danish as my language on the phone.. Or rather .. Used), but that didn't do anything either..
The 3G logo was showing, but when I tried using ie. Safari, it said it couldn't active data-network..

And so .. I made the grand mistake of resetting all data and settings
I ran into the Apple logo a long with the little swirling circle (which eventually froze as well).. After quite some time I managed to get it into DFU-mode and I tried to restore it in iTunes with 3.1.3, but it didn't work..
I found out that I had to find an IPSW for 3.1.2 and so I did - but now I keep getting either error 1600 or 1601..
I have restarted, reinstalled, tried iTunes 7.5, 9 and 10 so many times I can't count it on my hands and feet..
The only info I can find at the apple forum is to reinstall iTunes, the only info I can find on the WWW is to start in recover-mode and not DFU-mode.. This is not do-able as the iPhone freezes when I try to go out of DFU-mode.. I can go back into DFU but nothing else..

Using WinXP SP2, iTunes 10, iPhone 3GS previously jailbreaked with blackra1n on 3.1.2, I believe...

I really wish you had asked for advice earlier rather than try lots of IPSWs first. Hopefully you have not destroyed the one slight chance you had.

Very important questions.

1. Did you ever open Cydia and click the "make my life easier" option? Or have you ever used Umbrella (now called TinyUmbrella) or AutoSHSH?
2. When you were jailbroken with blackra1n did you need to run blackra1n each time you restarted the iPhone?
3. Can you pastie or pastebin the last (few) iPhone restore logs. Procedure is explained here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/130802.htm - DO NOT TRY to post the whole log file in this thread. Use pastebin or pastie as explained in the link.

The iTunes version needs to be 8.2 or higher. Be sure to remove all traces of iTunes Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7 before you reinstall.

2. Nope, it worked exactly as it should every time it was turned on.
3. Sure.. I have 4 logs, 2 that gave 1600 and 2 that gave 1601.. Here are one of each: 2010-09-14 12:58:48.762 [1224: - IPhoneUpdater1 - sdfdrcJb - Pastebin.com and 2010-09-14 14:32:21.875 [1308: - IPhoneUpdater2 - LPY2at2n - Pastebin.com

I have removed iTunes, QuickTime, BonJour and all of that as you recommended - now finishing installation of iTunes 10.. Wont do anything before I know more! :s

Good news is that it is 99% likely that you have old bootrom.
You need to 100% confirm this before you can proceed. Look at PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X for details.

• iBoot-359.3 "old bootrom"
• iBoot-359.3.2 "new bootrom"

The log files show no signs that you have got very far in the restore process. That means you are still low level jailbroken.

The bad news is that you are on windows and the only solution I can recommend/support is on Mac.

Once you confirm that you have an old bootrom 3GS (as I suspect) you can follow this guide.

There is a windows unauthorised unofficial copy of pwnagetool. It is called sn0wbreeze. It has screwed some people's phones and we don't recommend it

It's up to you to decide whether to use sn0wbreeze or pwnagetool. Nothing else will work to fix you problem. Do not restore any original apple IPSW.

The log files you posted indicate that you seem to have some problems getting your iPhone into the proper state for restoring. This is somewhat common after "erase all content and settings".

You might have to force the iPhone into recovery mode before you restore the custom IPSW

I know you wont recommend sn0wbreeze ... BUT, if I don't have any access to a mac at all? I don't know anyone with a mac..
Would it be best to take the risk of using sn0wbreeze?

I live in Norway can speak the language, but I'm not Norwegian. I only have access to windows computers running english right now so it is hard to check.

The screenshot you posted did not look like it included all the items available in that drop down list (it is a long list)

On English, the device instance path is nearly at the end of the drop down list. I am not sure if they have changed the order of entries
Take a look at this blog post for pictures of the english version.

Sn0wbreeze is based on the same code as pwnagetool, it likely will work - it is just the policy of this forum to not recommend it.

If thats the case, I wouldn't be surprised that I don't have any, as I can't boot the phone .. At all!

I can get it into 2 phases:

• Stuck at apple-logo
• DFU-Mode (black screen)

I can not do anything else.. Have tried everything!

The order is bootrom (burned into the chip at the factory) and then this calls the low level bootloader (which can be changed by restoring with a SHSH signed IPSW)

Stuck at Apple logo.. that is possibly good. It might indicates that less is corrupted than I expected.

That is weird, then.. I can't find anything that is anywhere close to iBoot in the list, and the list can't be expanded any further :/

Are you sure you are in DFU mode?
The iBoot value ONLY shows in DFU mode. In recovery mode, you get ECID and serial number (under the same device instance path)
