I really need help restoring my iPhone 3G[s]!
I have an iPhone 3G[s] that will not restore. It was jailbroken but it was a tether jailbreak, so I turned it off and then restored it. But turns out it was on recovery mode when I tried to restore it to 3.1.2. I also had my own local server up for the shsh blobs (sauriks wasn't working..?). So it gave me an error. So I tried it again in dfu mode and now itunes attempts to prepare the iphone for restore, but it can't and says error 1600. So I put it into recovery mode, with the itunes and usb cable pic, and it tries to prepare the iphone for a restore for ever. I don't want to upgrade to 3.1.3 because that will upgrade the baseband and I will have a $500 brick until they release the 3.1.3 unlock. Which should have been a month ago... but what ever. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do to fix this? Thanks a bunch! I am on mac OS X 10.5.6 with the latest itunes.

You have new bootrom - that means:
- If you have tried to load a custom ipsw
- Chosen the wrong option in redsn0w
Then you have no choice but to restore to stock 3.1.3. Otherwise you might have a chance still.
From your description it ounds like you don't have SHSH blobs for OS 3.1.2
More details please.
