Angry How to penetrate-up a 3GS by following the guides

So here's my story, something that happened to me the other day and has got me really pissed off.

I had an iPhone 3GS, running iOS 3.1.1. JailBreakMe.com does not support it, and I could no longer get SHSH's for the iOS versions that it supports, so I could not jailbreak it. redsn0w 0.9.x could only do a tethered jailbreak, and I wasn't interested in a half-gluteus solution.

So there I was, figuring out how to make use of the earliest release of greenpois0n, which is RC4, and which requires you to have iOS 4.1 installed.

Off I go and check that iOS 4.1 has baseband 05.14.02. Can 05.14.02 be unlocked, I wondered? I loaded up my web search engine, and queried the magic words:
    "baseband 5.14.02 unlock"

If you're reading my post this far, I really encourage you to perform this search, and see all the misinformation and pure cow manure they have sitting out there about this topic. I skimmed through the search results, reading the reassurances from the page summaries.

Of all the bull dung I went through, this particular one is especially misleading in its title and text:
    http://www.iphoneworld.ca/news/2010/11/29/iphone-3gs3g-ios-4-1-basebands-5-14-02-unlock-video-guide-pwnage-ultrasn0w/
    iPhone 3Gs/3G iOS 4.1 Baseband 5.14.02 Unlock Video Guide [How to / Pwnage 4.1.3 / Ultrasn0w 1.2] | iPhone World
Only if you follow the links to other guides, or watch the video, does it tell you what the reality is about "unlocking" 5.14.02.

To be even safer, I remember reading somewhere about Tiny Umbrella being able to update your iOS while preserving (not updating) the baseband. Is that true? I took a quick look, TOO QUICK, at the change log of Tiny Umbrella ("Added 4.2.1 support for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch 2G, 3G, 4G and iPad"), and thought it could protect my 3GS baseband as well.

So, I launched Tiny Umbrella, clicked "restore", thinking that my baseband would be preserved, and even if it were not, so many web sites say 5.14.02 can be "unlocked". How could I go wrong, huh?

Here I am, fuming and flaring out my rear end. After reading and checking out the latest news in the scene, I still got screwed by the cow dung left strewn online by the lazy-butt mother fornicating web sites that publish whatever smelly rumour gets farted by the dog of any hacker out there. "Yeah, they're coming out with an unlock for 5.14.02. UltraSn0w will be updated in 2 days. Release imminent! You can now unlock it, just follow these instructions (to penetrate-up your 3GS)!"

Oh wait, your GPS will stop working if you follow these "unlock" instructions. And you won't be able to restore with iTunes, with or without Tiny Umbrella, EVER AGAIN. But in the mean time, enjoy your "iPod Touch 3GS". Awesome, just awesome.

More of these mother fornicating web sites that pump up their priority in search results, by using title text that is either misleading or plainly false. Search for "ultrasn0w unlocks baseband versions" on Yahoo...
