I am not sure whether am allowed to ask such kind of noobish doubts...i searched the forum using the search feature but i did not find any answer so i thought i will post it..sorry again if i made a mistake..

I am located in India and I want to buy a iphone 3GS ...am not sure of the procedure..I heard from my few of my friends that one can buy it from the US and get it unlocked in India..

but am not pretty sure abt that AT&T contract and all such things..I have many relatives in US ...so they can buy it and send it over...that is not a problem..

what I want to know is how much does it cost overall(including all the costs) for a 16gb iphone and a 32 gb iphone? and the general procedure for buying it in US and getting it unlocked in India..

So correct me if I am wrong, you have many relatives in the US who can all easily send you an iPhone but you cannot ask them the price of it......
Moreover you live in India, and want to unlock your phone there (if possible), so I would guess you are the first best candidate to be able to find out what it would cost you in your particular area of India

Or did I miss something

dude I already asked them...they were telling the price which is mentioned in the apple website...they dont know how much does that AT&T contract and all others cost them...that is why am asking here..

Here in the west we use a internet search engines, I found the following site informing me of the AT&T iPhone pricing:
iPhone 3G S, Exclusively from AT&T and Apple - | Wireless from AT&T, formerly Cingular

The 3Gs will cost you $199,- but you will need a 2 year plan, which as far as I understand varies by where you buy it in the US.
You could also ask around to see if any of your friends live in Europe where in some countries the iPhone is sold 'pay as you go' (no contract)


If your dudes over in the US cannot find this info do you really trust them to purchase the phone for you, dude?
