Default How to buy the tombile 5.99 plan help?

I recently bought a Iphone 3gs from a friend and proceeded to unlock it and put in my tmobile sim card. I have been looking all week at the T-mobile 5.99 tzones unlimited plan and not but 10 minutes ago spoke to a representive about adding it to my plan. He sail that it is no longer offered to anyone. Now my question is, is he supposed to say that? or is it legit? can I still buy the plan?

    Thanks for any help!

The $5.99 data plan for T-Zones is only available for specific devices. If they asked for an IMEI number (which they should have), they know what device you're trying to connect with. The bypass for this is to get a flip phone from the last 5 years or a candybar phone from the last five years, move your SIM to that device, and register the T-Zones plan on that phone -- then move the SIM back. If they know the IMEI of the device you're actually using, they'll shut you down every time -- because the $5.99 plan is not a legitimate plan to be used in this method, so what they're doing is not illegal, because what you're doing is actually in violation of their ToS.

Not saying don't do it, just saying that it's always healthy to remember when you're doing something that's not really legit, and let it meter your conversations with the representatives you're speaking with.

I'm finding reports online of this still working as recently as January of 2010, so if you get the right representative I don't think you'll have any issues. All claims do say they took several calls to get to someone who knew what they were talking about and the key is to tell them the IMEI of an older phone and to insist it has the T-zones logo and icon on it. Making sure the IMEI correlates to a phone that has these features is also recommended, as if you give them the IMEI of a phone that they know they didn't sell, they're not going to work with you.

    Good luck!
